I’m Jane Travis and I’m an ex counsellor that now works with other therapists to grow their private practice, hence the name of the show. I’m the author of the Grow Your Private Practice book and also run the Grow Your Private Practice membership, where counsellors can get together and learn all about marketing, with a special love of all things blogging. Okay, that’s the official stuffy 'about me' bit out of the way, because honestly, it’s so much more than that. The truth is, the thing that really drives me, is helping counsellors - counsellors like you - to get more freedom and choice into your life so can work when you want to, how you want to and with the issues that you’re passionate about. And importantly, to get paid properly to do so. Because you have the freedom and choice to run a thriving private practice whilst also creating a fulfilling life for both yourself and your family. If you want that too, please click subscribe. I hope you enjoy listening.Copyright 2026 Jane Travis Economia Gestione e leadership Igiene e vita sana Leadership Marketing Marketing e vendite Psicologia Psicologia e salute mentale
  • 'Nobody Around Here Can Afford Counselling.' But How Do You Know?

'Nobody Around Here Can Afford Counselling.' But How Do You Know?

What if you're earning less from your private practice than you could be, simply because of something you've convinced yourself is true?

    Ouch.

It's surprisingly easy to make decisions about your business based on what you think people want, need or can afford. And those decisions could be costing you money.

The annoying thing is, you might not even realise you're doing it.

And what if questioning just one or two of those decisions could make a difference to your income?

That's what we're exploring in this week's episode.

Have a listen. You might be surprised by what you've been taking for granted.

  • Does Blogging Still Work for Counsellors?
    Oct 1 2026

Does blogging still work – especially now AI can answer almost any question in seconds?

It’s a fair question. Because if you’re going to spend a couple of hours writing a blog, you want it to do more than sit looking pretty on your website.

But perhaps we’ve been judging whether a blog ‘works’ in completely the wrong way.

In this episode, I’m looking at what’s changed, what hasn’t – and why getting found might only be half the story.

  • Are Therapy Directories Worth Paying For? When to Keep, Change or Cancel Yours
    Oct 8 2026

You’ve been paying for that online directory for months.maybe even years.

It doesn’t seem to be bringing you many clients, so perhaps you should cancel it. Except... what if you cancel it today and next week the perfect client would have found you there?

So how do you know when to keep paying, when to change something - and when it really is time to call it a day?

In this episode, I’m using a real question from GYPP member Tony to help you work that out.

    Links mentioned in this episode:

The Directory Revival is a 90 minute, one-off, one-to-one session that gives you expert, tailored feedback on your online directory profile.

You'll walk away with clear, actionable suggestions you can implement immediately, no vague advice, no one-size-fits-all templates.

Just a focused counsellor directory profile audit to help you improve your listing and make it easier for the right clients to say yes.
