  • The AWARE™ Goal Setting Series | Episode 3 #Action

Identity shifts, belief loops, and the one thing that separates dreamers from achievers — consistent, purposeful action.

    🎧 Listen now — available everywhere: https://pod.link/1528974087

    Reverse-engineer your 10-year goal

Ten years is too far to see clearly — but it's not too far to aim at. The key is to reverse-engineer it. Know where you want to be, then walk backwards: what do you need to do this year, this quarter, this month, this week, today?

Most people set goals in the future and wait. High performers set goals in the future and build backwards into today. Your daily actions are the bridge between who you are and who you're becoming.

The identity shift you can't skip

Your current reality is the output of your past. If you want a different future, you need to become a different person — not someday, but now, through your behaviour, your decisions, and how you show up every day.

This is what self-signalling is about. Your brain constantly scans your behaviour and asks: who is this person? Every action is a vote. When you behave like the person you're becoming — even before the results arrive — you begin to rewire your identity from the inside out.

"You cannot attract the goal while remaining the person who doesn't have it. Raise your level of awareness. Become the new person. The results will follow."

The belief loop: how action builds momentum

Here is the cycle that creates unstoppable momentum:

Potential → Action → Results → Belief → More Potential

Action precedes certainty. You don't wait to believe before you act — you act, and belief grows as evidence accumulates. Each result becomes data. Each data point tells you who you're becoming. Over time, the loop tightens into a powerful upward spiral.

What about failure? Failure is not a verdict — it's feedback. The question is never "what went wrong?" It's "what worked, and how do I do more of that?" Results don't define you. They describe your current inputs. Change the inputs, and you change the output.

    Strategic, massive, purposeful action

There is a difference between being busy and being effective. Don't spray energy across a hundred activities. Narrow down. Who is your ideal customer? What are the 20% of actions producing 80% of your results? The Pareto principle isn't just a theory — it's a daily operating system.

Plan your week ahead of time. Know exactly what you need to do, and why it connects to the bigger picture. If your team doesn't understand the why, they will burn out on the what. Purpose-driven action sustains energy. Task-driven action depletes it.

The winner's mindset: outcomes as information

Where focus goes, energy flows. F1 drivers don't look at the wall — they look at the road. In the same way, your attention needs to stay on the outcome, not the obstacle. When you fixate on problems, you generate more problems. When you focus on solutions, your mind begins finding paths you couldn't see before.

Watch your language too. "I can't" programs your mind with limitation. "I am getting better" programs it with possibility. You are always listening to your own voice — make sure it's a voice that's pulling you forward, not holding you back.

"An ounce of action outweighs a ton of theorising."

Want to know how you're wired to lead and perform?

The CODE Personality Assessment reveals your natural style — Connector, Organiser, Detail, or Effervescent — so you can lead, communicate, and take action in ways that are true to how you're built.

    Your action from this episode

Break your 10-year goal into a one-year milestone. Then break that into this quarter. Then this week. What is the one purposeful action you can take tomorrow morning that moves you one step closer?

Don't overthink it. Take the action. Use the results as feedback. Adjust. Repeat. That is how the unstoppable version of you is built — one data point at a time.

Until next time — God bless.

  • A.W.A.R.E Goal Setting Ep #4: Break the Terror Barrier and Move Into Action
    Mar 18 2026
🎧 Listen to the EG Mindset Podcast: https://pod.link/1528974087 Hello and welcome back to the EG Mindset Podcast with Ernest Gikuma —a platform created to help individuals, business owners, and team leaders understand personality, improve performance, communicate with confidence, and build a productive culture. In Episode 4 of the AWARE Goal-Setting Series, Ernest goes deeper into the Awareness stage before moving fully into Action. This episode explores how your conscious mind, subconscious mind, and body must work in alignment if you want to break through fear, overcome internal resistance, and create better results in life, business, and leadership. If you have ever felt stuck between knowing what to do and actually doing it, this episode will help you understand why. What this episode is about The AWARE framework is a repeatable cycle for sustainable growth and goal achievement: Alignment — align your values, beliefs, and goals Awareness — understand how your inner world shapes your actions Action — move deliberately toward the result Reinforcement — use accountability, community, and support Evaluation — review results, learn, and refine In this episode, Ernest revisits Dr. Freeman Fleet’s stickman model of the mind to explain the difference between the conscious mind, which thinks and chooses, and the subconscious mind, which does not choose but reproduces what has been programmed into it. He explains how your body becomes the instrument through which your inner programming expresses itself in the world. Why this matters Many people do not fail because they lack potential. They fail because they are internally divided. One part of them wants growth, impact, better income, stronger leadership, or healthier habits. Another part is still conditioned to stay where things feel safe, familiar, and predictable. That internal conflict creates what Ernest describes as the terror barrier — the invisible emotional resistance that appears when your goal is bigger than your current conditioning. This episode helps you understand how fear, comfort zones, and past programming can slow your progress, and how to move through that tension with greater clarity and confidence. Key ideas from Episode 4 1. Your conscious mind chooses, but your subconscious mind reproduces Your conscious mind receives information through the five senses and processes it through higher faculties such as imagination, perception, memory, intuition, and intellect. Your subconscious mind, however, does not decide what is true or false. It accepts repeated impressions and reproduces them through feeling, behavior, and habitual response. 2. Your body follows the dominant programming Your body is the instrument of the mind. It moves through time and space according to the emotional instructions it receives. That means your results are often not just the product of hard work, but the product of the alignment — or misalignment — between your thoughts, feelings, and conditioning. 3. Big goals can trigger fear When a goal feels too far beyond what your subconscious mind considers safe, fear rises. You hesitate. You procrastinate. You overthink. You pull back. This is not always laziness. Often, it is subconscious protection. 4. Results are feedback, not failure One of the most powerful insights in this episode is that results are feedback. They reveal past conditioning. They do not define your future potential. When you learn to interpret results correctly, you stop panicking and start adjusting. 5. The 80/20 rule can help you double results Ernest uses a business and sales example to show how many people plateau at a familiar level of performance. By applying the 80/20 principle, you can identify the customers, activities, or team behaviors creating the greatest return and focus your effort where it matters most. Three practical tools to reduce internal friction Ernest shares three simple but powerful tools to help align your conscious goals with your subconscious conditioning: Affirmation Use emotionally engaged, intentional language to reinforce the result and identity you want to embody. Visualization See the result in your mind before it appears in your reality. Let imagination create emotional momentum. Education Feed your mind with the right ideas, frameworks, and language so you can become the person your next level requires. Stop Waiting for Perfect Timing – Procrastination Isn’t Caution, It’s Fear in Disguise

At the start of the year, motivation is high. Goals feel exciting, clear, and achievable. But as the months pass and reality sets in, many people don’t stop because they lack desire — they stop because fear grows louder as the goal becomes real.

In this episode of the AWARE™ Goal Setting Series on the EG Success Mindset Podcast, Ernest Gikuma explores how procrastination often masquerades as wisdom. We tell ourselves we are being cautious, waiting for better news, more certainty, or the “right time” to act. In truth, this delay is rarely strategy — it is fear dressed up as caution.

You’ll learn the difference between the external economy (news, markets, uncertainty) and your internal economy (energy, focus, confidence, and decision-making). When your future becomes dependent on external conditions, momentum stalls and hesitation takes over. True progress begins when you reclaim control from within.

    This episode also breaks down:

    • Why fear shows up the moment growth begins

    • The Terror Barrier and how conditioning keeps you safe but stuck

    • The Stickman Mind Model (conscious vs subconscious influence on action)

    • How procrastination, overthinking, and distraction are emotional safety responses

    • Three practical tools to recalibrate fear (physiology, breathing, and controlled discomfort)

    • How fear manifests differently across the CODE Personality Types (Connector, Organiser, Detail-Oriented, Effervescent)

You’ll discover that your subconscious mind prioritises safety, not success — which is why even when you know what to do, you may still hesitate. The key is not waiting for perfect certainty, but learning to act with emotional alignment and self-awareness.

If you want to understand how your personality responds to fear, pressure, and decision-making, the next step is simple.
