In Episode 3 of That’s Pretty Messed Up!, Adrianna continues sharing her journey after reporting her sexual assault. Believing she was finally getting answers, she instead found herself receiving different explanations from different people. As conversations with the District Attorney’s Office and her advocate unfolded, she learned that one of the reasons her case was reportedly declined centered around the wording of her original statement—something she says was never explained to her directly by the DA’s Office. When she shared that with her advocate, her advocate was shocked, believing Adrianna had already been told.
This episode explores the confusion, frustration, and emotional impact of trying to understand a process that often felt inconsistent. Adrianna also discusses trauma responses, including the reality that many survivors freeze during an assault, and reflects on the questions that still remain.
Listener discretion is advised. If you or someone you know has experienced sexual violence, resources for support are included at the end of this episode.
