A lot of artists can write a solid song, then wonder why the track still feels flat. I’m pulling back the curtain on my Kingdom Radio 2 process to show where the real transformation happens: moving from songwriting to arranging to full production decisions that make music feel alive.

I walk through the practical differences between songwriting, arranging, and music production using simple examples you can hear in your head. We talk about how arrangement is all about flow: what happens in the verse, what changes in the chorus, where counter-melodies live, and how transitions keep the listener leaning forward. I also dig into instrumentation and why choosing a genre target is not a “vibe” choice, it’s a roadmap for sound selection, band parts, and what your producer and engineer do next.

Then we get into the fun stuff: dynamics, leaving space, and building contrast so your chorus actually feels like a chorus. I share a real “trick of the trade” from the mixing and mastering world, plus the musician mindset that keeps bands from overplaying and cluttering the vocal. To bring it home, I break down the non-traditional opening approach behind my track Back to the Garden and how it sets up the album’s story.

If you’re a songwriter, arranger, gospel artist, or home studio producer trying to level up your music, hit play and take notes. Subscribe, share this with a music friend, and leave a review so more creators can find the series.

  • Capture The Spark Before You Produce

That half-finished voice memo you keep scrolling past might be your next best song, if you stop waiting for the “perfect” studio moment. I’m Tony King, and I’m walking you through my real songwriting process for Kingdom Radio 2, starting where every track actually begins: the song before the production. I share how I catch the first spark, usually a melody and a pocket of rhythm, and why I record everything immediately on my phone so nothing gets lost.

We also talk about what happens after the download: living with unfinished ideas, coming back to flush out lyrics, and building a chorus or verse over time without pressure. I get honest about rewriting and revisions, because great songwriting is not magic, it’s work. If a line doesn’t fit the message or the flow feels off, I change it until it feels right, and I want you to feel free to do the same.

Then we shift into the gear trap and the growth trap. More plugins won’t fix undeveloped craft, and overcomplicating a track can bury the point of the song. Whether you’re writing with pen and paper, working in a home studio, or moving toward mixing and mastering, the goal is a clear foundation: melody, harmony, rhythm, and message. I also share a quick update on a Christmas EP coming in November and what’s next as my album process continues.

Take the listener challenge, finish one unfinished song, and then come tell me what you’re working on. Subscribe, share this with a songwriter friend, and leave a review so more creators can find the process and actually complete their music.

What would your music sound like if you started by asking a different question: “If God had a playlist, what would He want to hear?” That’s the spark behind Kingdom Radio 2, and I’m opening up my full creative process so you can build your next project with more clarity, better sound, and a stronger message.

I’m taking you from the foundation to the finish line: how I shape gospel lyrics directly from the Word of God, why singing scripture hits differently than simply reading it, and how I think about making songs people actually want to replay. We also get into the practical music production choices that carry the message, including recording on the phone, arranging inside Logic Pro, and aiming for a warm, smooth, buttery sonic identity that won’t get lost once the mix and mastering stage begins.

I break down how influences help without hijacking your identity, from studying Kenyon Dixon for vocal ideas and harmonies to chasing Silk Sonic style warmth and even pulling country music storytelling for bigger, more vivid records. The destination is simple: a full-length album that sounds incredible, tells a story, and gives listeners words they can sing as blessings instead of baggage.

If you’re creating anything right now, take my listener challenge: describe your next project in three sentences and message me. Subscribe, share this with a musician friend, and leave a review so more artists can find the series. What are you working on next?
