It’s a real “check in on all our characters” episode. No Mr C at all! As four Dougie: Good news and bad news for Dougie Dale. Good news: he finds out what sex is, and loves it. Bad news: the mobster Mitchum Brothers wanna get him sooo bad. Speaking of, the Mitchum brothers get hit by a remote by spacey babe Candie, celebrate over Ike the Spike getting arrested, then get told by Tony Sinclair, Dougie’s coworker who it turns out is in Mr C’s pocket, that they have an enemy in Douglas Jones.

Meanwhile: Richard Horne kills the lady who saw him run over that kid and then steals all his mom’s money, which prompts Ben Horne to finally cave and ask Beverly out on a date. Richard also gets shithead cop Chad to intercept a letter Miriam wrote saying Richard killed the kid, which Lucy is very suspicious of. Carl, the Harry Dean Stanton trailer park manager, plays his soulful guitar and is upset that Steven, the Get Out brother, is being abusive to Becky, Shelly’s daughter. Albert goes on a date with the morgue lady! Gordon Cole draws a little creature, gets a Laura Palmer vision, and learns about Diane’s shady texts! The Log Lady gives Hawk an all-timer log lady speech, and Rebekah Del Rio serenades us into the starless night…

Hi, it’s Sadie. This isn’t a normal episode of the show, there are some quite serious and upsetting things for us to address.

As some background context, I’m recording this on October 1st, and a family member of Lily’s passed away last week. Lily had been traveling to do care work for that family member, and we were already going to put out our upcoming episodes a week late.

Then, yesterday, September 30th, evidence surfaced that YouTuber and game critic Jacob Geller had been suspended in 2016 from The University of North Carolina for sexual assault. At time of recording, he’s been removed from MinnMax, a gaming show he co-hosted. There haven’t been any statements either from Jacob or from the survivor in question. (Update: Jacob has addressed and confirmed the allegations here.) Jacob had guested on our show, in our episode covering The Straight Story. We’re removing that episode from our feeds. Unfortunately, it was one that we referred back to quite a few times over the course of the show. We won’t be able to comb through our backlog to remove all those mentions, but removing the episode itself feels like the right action to take.

Lily and I both heard of this news for the first time last night. We’re shocked, and personally still reeling. We condemn Jacob’s actions and stand with all survivors of sexual violence. Without speaking for Lily, I will say for myself that as a survivor, this news is very personally upsetting.

In light of this, and the death in Lily’s family, our upcoming schedule will probably be erratic. We haven’t fully figured out how we want to handle the next month, but it might be a handful of weeks before we’re back to a normal cadence.

I just want to say, from myself, that all my compassion and solidarity is with anyone who’s affected by this news. I hope that we have your patience as we figure out next steps.

This may or may not stay on the feed long-term, but I wanted to put something out to address the situation and give some context for our schedule over the next bit. I hope all of you are doing okay.

Mr C, who did not die, meets up with Chantal and her husband, tells them to kill the warden and two people in Vegas, and texts a spooky phrase to…gasp! Diane!

Speaking of, Diane and the feds go to Buckhorn, South Dakota, where they learn a bunch of crazy clues from the Garland Briggs body and from Bill Hastings, who it turns out was a pivotal stone on the path to floating head the whole time!

As for the other investigators, Bobby, Hawk and Truman get a BIG CLUE: turns out Garland Briggs, in between Mr C’s visit and “dying”(??) in the fire, gave his wife a prophetic message inside a ringing metal container, that tells them to go to a specific place in the woods in 2 days. MYSTERIES ABOUND!

Meanwhile: Dougie, who by the way seems to have not existed before 1997, gets his dna taken by “the coffee gambit”, then gets emotional about America and red shoes. Ike the Spike gets arrested. Lucy and Andy get a new chair. Ben Horne REALLY isn't fucking his secretary. Jerry Horne's foot is not his foot. Johnny Horne (although you could barely know it was him) runs into a wall. And last but not least, two girls at the roadhouse talk about getting fired for being high, a zebra, and a penguin.
