    The festival is in aid of Calcutta Rescue. Calcutta Rescue a charity that provides free healthcare, education, employment opportunities and basic infrastructure for tens of thousands of the poorest people living in the slums of Kolkata, India.     Kevin Armstrong collaborated with David Bowie on the soundtrack for the film Absolute Beginner's He also played in the band for David Bowie's Live Aid appearance in 1985, and recorded the song Dancing In The Street with David Bowie and Mick Jagger.

    He played guitar on the Iggy Pop 1986 album Blah Blah Blah and was musical director for Iggy Pop's world tour in 1986/87

    Armstrong joined Steve Nieve's band for the Jonathan Ross Channel 4 chat show The Last Resort for two seasons in 1989, accompanying Paul McCartney

    In 1989, David Bowie asked Armstrong to join Tin Machine as the fifth member after he played on the debut album recorded in Switzerland and the Bahamas.
