Welcome to Sweaty, Petty, and Kinda Unsteady—the podcast for women who are doing their best, but also wondering why they walked into a room, where their reading glasses went, & whether this hot flash is trying to kill them. Join two sisters —a pediatric nurse & a first-grade teacher—as they navigate perimenopause, parenting, relationships, work, aging, and the everyday absurdities of adult life. It’s like catching up with your funniest friends over coffee (or wine). We’ll share stories, laugh at ourselves & vent about the things that drive us crazy!Marisa Byram & Dana Murphy Scienze sociali
  • We Swore We'd Never Be That Mom..... But We Are!
    Oct 2 2026

Before we had kids, we were AMAZING parents. Our imaginary children ate their vegetables, had limited screen time, never talked back, slept exactly where they were supposed to, and definitely weren't eating chicken nuggets for dinner three nights in a row.

Then we had actual kids. 😂

This week, we're talking about all the things we SWORE we'd never do as parents…and then absolutely did anyway. Bribery? Yep. Too much screen time? Probably. Saying “because I said so”? More times than we'd like to admit. Planning our entire lives around our kids' activities? Apparently that's just who we are now.

We're also talking about the parenting rules we changed for a better reason—because somewhere along the way, we realized that being a good parent isn't about sticking to every rule you made before you actually knew your child.

So grab your coffee, wine, hidden mom snack, or whatever is getting you through the day and join us as we confess just how perfect our imaginary kids were…and how much better real life turned out to be.

Because the easiest children to raise are the ones you haven't had yet. 😂

Everyone knows about hot flashes... but why is no one talking about the itchy ears, random rage, heart palpitations, brain fog, frozen shoulder, or the fact that one glass of wine suddenly feels like a three-day recovery?

In this episode, we're diving into the perimenopause symptoms that caught us completely off guard—the ones that made us wonder if we were losing our minds before realizing it might just be our hormones. We share the weird, the frustrating, and the surprisingly funny changes that no one warned us about, along with plenty of laughs and "please tell me it's not just me" moments.

Whether you're in the middle of perimenopause, approaching it, or just curious about what's coming, this episode is your reminder that you're not crazy, you're not alone, and you're definitely not the only one Googling, "Can perimenopause cause...?"

Grab your favorite drink, get comfortable, and join us for an honest conversation about the symptoms no one talks about—but everyone should.

  • Escaping Reality, One Chapter at a Time
    Aug 29 2026

Sometimes the best way to deal with real life is to completely ignore it and open a book.

In this episode, we’re Escaping Reality, One Chapter at a Time and sharing some of our favorite summer reads. We’re talking about the books that kept us up way too late, the ones we couldn’t stop thinking about, and the stories we’d happily recommend to a friend.

Whether you’re reading poolside with a drink in your hand, sneaking in a chapter before bed, listening to an audiobook during your commute, or hiding from your family for ten minutes of peace, there’s nothing quite like getting completely lost in a good book.

We’ll each share our favorite picks, what we loved about them, and why we think they deserve a spot on your TBR list. Expect plenty of opinions, a few tangents, and absolutely no judgment if your idea of “summer reading” is buying six books and actually finishing one.

So grab your bookmark, pour yourself something cold, and escape reality with us—one chapter at a time.
