These notes introduce the Christian doctrine of creation, sin, and the Fall. God eternally and freely created all things from nothing, declaring creation good and ordering it toward union and communion with Himself. Humanity, made in God’s image and as the summit of the created order, shares that purpose and finds its true fulfillment only in union with its Creator.

Sin is humanity’s irrational rejection of that reality: a turning from the highest Good toward lesser goods and an attempt to claim independence from God. It is not a created “thing,” but a privation of the good: a corruption, disease, and loss of the holiness for which mankind was made. The Fall brought alienation from God, disorder within the human person, broken relationships with one another and creation, and death. Though the image of God remains in every person, human nature is wounded by original sin through blindness of reason, malice of will, disordered appetites, and weakness in doing the good. Because these wounds cannot be healed by human effort alone, mankind needs God’s grace, reconciliation, and restoration found in Christ Jesus.

“The One True God” introduces the Christian doctrine of God as revealed in Holy Scripture and summarized in the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds. Human reason can recognize that God is one, but knowledge of God’s Triune life depends on divine revelation. Christianity confesses one God in three distinct, coequal, and coeternal Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

St. Luke’s Gospel and the Book of Acts bear witness to the same apostolic faith proclaimed by St. Paul: Jesus Christ has died, risen, reigns in glory, and calls all people to repentance, faith, and life in His Kingdom. This sermon reflects on St. Luke as evangelist, physician, companion of St. Paul, and faithful recorder of Christ’s saving work. In a post-Christian culture marked by spiritual confusion and hunger, evangelism is not salesmanship or emotional manipulation, but the clear proclamation of what God has done in Christ. Every baptized Christian is called to pray, speak the Creed, share the Gospel, invite others into the life of the Church, and labor faithfully in the Lord’s abundant harvest.

Trinity XIX reflects on Christ’s healing of the paralytic in Capernaum, emphasizing the determined faith of the man’s friends. Unable to enter the crowded house, they opened the roof and lowered him before Jesus, refusing to let obstacles prevent them from seeking the Lord’s presence.

Jesus first forgave the man’s sins, revealing that the deepest human need is spiritual healing and reconciliation with God. He then commanded the paralytic to arise and walk, visibly demonstrating His divine authority to forgive sins.

    Oct 6 2026

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

n this episode, we ask the foundational question: What is a man? Contrasting pantheistic and materialistic answers with the Christian vision, we explore mankind as God’s special creation, made from the earth, yet bearing His image and likeness. Scripture presents human beings as embodied souls, created male and female, entrusted with dominion, and endowed with reason, will, and spirit. We also consider the goodness of the body, original righteousness, the moral meaning of freedom, and humanity’s calling to know, love, and offer our lives to God.

Christ’s promise that the humble will be exalted is not merely advice in manners, but a law woven into reality by God Himself. This homily considers pride as an attempt to seize what rightfully belongs to God, while humility receives the good things God wishes to give.
