  • Cancer Trials Ireland - The Ability Show 18/06/26

    Clinical trials help medical professionals to find better ways to prevent cancer, to detect it earlier, to treat it with new therapies, and to improve quality of life for cancer patients, so as part of Cancer Trials Ireland’s annual campaign to encourage greater discussion between doctors and patients about available clinical trials, they hosted an online event for people with cancer on 22nd May entitled “Let’s Talk Trials”. Adrianne speaks here with Emer Mulvaney, Contracts and Public & Patient Involvement Programme Manager about this event, which can be viewed on www.cancertrials.ie/letstalktrials/ and about people getting involved in cancer trials around the country. He speaks here with Adrianne about his book, a few of his memories and what the title means.   • Summer Meals Project - The Today Show 15/06/26

    The Summer Meals Project runs throughout July and August across County Roscommon. Backed by the Galway and Roscommon ETB and community groups, the initiative provides hot meals to children and teens (ages 10–18) attending participating UBU youth services. Ruth Griffin, ETBI Youth Services Manager chats here with Adrianne about the Summer Meals Project and what it means for some children who may have gone hungry when school finished for the Summer. Involvement in the Summer Meals Programme requires active participation in your local youth services, so sign up by going to ETBI Service Directory or visit your local Foroige or Youth Services offices and Family Resource Centres like the South Roscommon Family Resource Centre and the Ballaghaderreen Family Resource Centre frequently host community summer camps, play days, and family food events.

  • Roscommon LEADER Partnership - The Today Show 15/06/26

    Since 2008, Roscommon have been hosting students from Wageningen University in the Netherlands for 2 weeks in the month of June. They are studying ‘International Community Development’, like the ‘Community & Rural Development’ work that the Roscommon LEADER Partnership engages in throughout the year. As part of their studies, the students undertake 2 weeks of field research work in the community they are temporarily living in. Adrianne is joined in studio by Anthony Dockery, SICAP Coordinator with Roscommon LEADER Partnership who runs this project and organises host families for these students in County Roscommon, she is also joined by three of these Dutch students to talk about the research they have been doing, Mart Marck who is spending his two weeks in the village of Loughglynn, and Hannah Vink and Loekla van Geleuken who are living with host families in Roscommon Town.
