A proposito di questo titolo

A podcast for those who want to heal from colonization, capitalism, and other systems of oppression through a recovery, sobriety, and/or harm reduction path. A podcast for those wanting to practice recovery in these times of revolution and collapse all over the world. This podcast is for the generational cycle breakers who dedicate their healing and liberation to the ancestors who couldn’t heal, who couldn’t thrive because of these systems.Carolyn Collado Igiene e vita sana
  • Watching Queer Ultimatum S2: A Deep Dive & Aftercare
    Jul 23 2025
What was it like to watch the Ultimatum: Queer Love, Season 2 in a time of resistance to escalating wintery raids and kidnappings in Los Angeles and across Turtle Island, in times of escalating g-cide in Gaza, Congo, Sudan, bombings in Iran, and threats to queer and trans people on Turtle Island and across the globe? What does after-care look like as we process how the show impacted us? What was the arch of feelings/noticings as we moved through the episodes? How did racial dynamics, and particularly anti-Blackness and colonial expectations of coming out impact the relationships, especially given the cast was largely white or light-skinned POC? Did watching provide the fun connection to community we were hoping for? What would it look like to divest our attention from big media and invest it in small, independent media? In this episode, Carolyn Collado (they/them) and Laila Makled (they/he), discuss the significance of the Queer Ultimatum: Season Two as one of the most high-profile queer reality TV shows, and recap of some of the moments that stuck out most to them (until they got tired and had to stop, lol.).This is a long episode, so please take breaks, or enjoy over several days on your walks, drives or when you’re doing tasks! • Can We Enjoy The Queer Ultimatum Season 2 While Our Communities Are Under Constant Threat? - Ep. 12
    Jun 23 2025

What does it mean to watch the Queer Ultimatum Season 2 on Netflix in a time of resistance to escalating wintery raids and kidnappings in Los Angeles and across Turtle Island, in times of escalating g-cide in Gaza, Congo, Sudan, and threats of war with Iran? Does TV keep us from being in movement, or can it provide harm reduction in times of resistance and escalation of harms from systems of oppression? What does it mean to watch reality TV when our analysis and critique relates to real-life people, especially in queer and trans community where everyone is one-to-two degrees of separation? Do we even want to see a queer show about ultimatums and marriage? What does it mean to watch this product of Hollywood and America’s soft power and pink washing globally, while also being given crumbs and being desperate for queer and trans media?

In this episode, Carolyn Collado (they/them) and Laila Makled (they/he) provide an introduction to the Queer Ultimatum Season 2, taking a look at the trailer and Autostraddle’s description of the cast and consider the role and function of reality tv, especially queer reality tv in America, on a global scale, and as we fight for liberation.
