  • The Art Gallery Episode 2: Silas Amos on Why Simplicity Is the Ultimate Sophistication
    Jun 24 2026

🏝️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐲: 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐀𝐦𝐨𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Thirty-five years of brand design. One very special guest. And a conversation that will make you look at packaging, print and creativity in an entirely different way.

In this episode of The Art Gallery, curator Chris Hyde welcomes Silas Amos, designer and brand strategist, to the gallery. The work spans JKR, Sir Peter Blake, HP Digital Print, Budweiser, Cancer Research UK and the UK's number one hummus. The stories behind them are even better than the work itself.

✦ A COVID campaign that landed the same artwork on the front page of every national newspaper in Britain on the same morning. Designed and delivered in a week.

✦ A hummus brand that became number one in the UK not by putting a photograph of hummus on a pot of hummus, but by having the confidence to do something strange instead.

✦ A gin brand where no two bottle labels are the same, because with digital print, they do not have to be.

As Silas puts it, what gets brands remembered is not what makes them conventional. It is what makes them strange. And packaging print is probably the last truly interruptive medium in a world where you can skip everything else.

  • Talk More Print Episode 1: First Impressions
    Jun 24 2026

In this first ever episode of Talk More Print, hosts Tara and Mackenzie introduce themselves, share how they both ended up falling into print from very different starting points, and explain exactly why they wanted to start this podcast. The industry is aging out. The next generation is arriving. And nobody is asking them what they actually want from internships, jobs and careers in print. That is about to change.

Expect honest conversations, guest speakers, fellow students, curriculum deep dives, event recaps from Dscoop and Print Excellence Awards, and a genuine passion for an industry that most people outside of it have never even thought about. Plus the mad libs. Definitely the mad libs.

Welcome to Talk More Print. This is just the beginning.

  • The Print On Demand Playbook: Eight Months In. How Is The Taylor Acquisition Really Going?
    Jun 24 2026

🏝️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤: 𝐄𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐈𝐧. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐆𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠?

In this episode of The Print On Demand Playbook, hosts Rusty Pepper and Maddy Alcala are joined by Nate Mullikin, the man overseeing Taylor Corporation's business identity, consumer products and print impressions divisions, for an honest and wide ranging conversation about what the acquisition of Order Mesh has actually looked like eight months in.

The short answer is better than expected. Nate admits they may have undervalued the opportunity, customer reception has been overwhelmingly positive, and the internal doors the acquisition has opened at Taylor are only just beginning to reveal themselves. Maddy clarifies the Guten versus Order Mesh question once and for all, Rusty talks about how the acquisition comes up on almost every single call he takes, and the three of them dig into AI, talent, technology decision paralysis and why businesses that are investing in automation right now are pulling ahead of the pack in a genuinely uncertain market.

There is also a story about Maddy chasing a taxi barefoot through the streets of Barcelona that is absolutely worth staying for.

  • Lightbulb Corner Episode 2: Paper Bags
    Jun 24 2026

🏝️ 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐛 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝟐: 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐬

Try ordering 250 full colour printed paper bags delivered within three to four days. Go on. Phil Walsh did and he will tell you exactly how that went.

In this episode of Lightbulb Corner, Phil Walsh shines a light on one of the most overlooked short run opportunities in print right now. Global legislation is banning single use plastic bags at pace, and local shops, sandwich bars and coffee shops are all turning to paper. But they do not want ten thousand bags. They want two hundred and fifty. Three hundred. Four hundred. And right now nobody is serving them. The solution is inkjet integrated directly into the production line, full colour, every bag different to the last, and one UK company is already charging £32.50 per run of bags produced every five minutes.

Is that not a lightbulb moment?

  • The Layover: Denis Gagnon à Ljubljana
    Jun 24 2026

🏝️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫: 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐬 𝐆𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐝𝐞 𝐋𝐣𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐚

    English:

In this episode of The Layover, Jacques Michiels welcomes Denis Gagnon, CEO of Grafiskan, into the Print Island VIP airport lounge. Denis joins from Bangkok, which tells you something about the international scale of what he has built since taking over the family business in 2001 and growing it from a turnover of $600,000 to $20 million with a hundred employees today.

Denis has been part of the Dscoop community since 2015 and has not missed a single event since, Covid aside. He speaks honestly about the concrete value Dscoop has brought him, including the confidence it gave him to invest in high speed equipment through conversations with other members who had already made that journey. For Ljubljana he arrives with an open mind, a curiosity about European market players and one simple conviction. If Canadians are making the trip, Europeans have no excuse not to be there.

  • Print Island Hosts Webinar with Innovaic: AI Isn't Failing you, The Industry
    Jun 24 2026

In this Print Island webinar, Richard Askam is joined by Daryl Davis, CTO and VP of Operations at Innovaic, and Andrew Oswood, Senior Workflow Engineer at Innovaic, for one of the most honest and practically useful conversations about AI in print that you will find anywhere right now.

This is not a conversation about what AI could theoretically do. It is about why AI initiatives fail in real print environments, why businesses are being misled by shiny object demos and black box promises, and what actually needs to be in place before AI can deliver anything of value. Split brain syndrome. The confidence death spiral. The swivel chair trap. The shiny object trap. Daryl has a name for all of them and every single one of them will be recognisable to anyone running a print business right now.

The good news is there is a way through. It starts with understanding your data, mapping your systems and finding a partner who will ask the hard questions before recommending a tool. Innovaic are offering ten complimentary AI automation health checks for print businesses ready to find out where they actually stand. Come slow into the curve so you can accelerate fast out of it.

  • Lightbulb Corner Episode 1: Digital Ink v Conventional Ink $80 v $8
    Jun 15 2026

"You want to charge me $80 for digital ink? Are you mad?"

That's usually how the conversation starts.

Most printers stop the conversation right there.

    That's a mistake.

Because digital printing isn't about buying ink.

    It's about buying opportunity.

The opportunity to run short jobs profitably.

    The opportunity to eliminate waste.

The opportunity to reduce and even eliminate make-ready time.

The opportunity to win business that conventional printing simply can't produce economically.

Sometimes the most expensive ink in the factory turns out to be the cheapest.

    Because the real question isn't:

"How much does the ink cost?"

    It's:

"What does the ink allow me to do?"

    What do you think?

  • The Diary Of A Castaway: Bonus Episode
    Jun 15 2026

We had a great response to Episode 8, the season finale of Diary of a Castaway, so we decided to release the full unedited conversation between Ray Stasieczko and Mark Stephenson.

If you're still in any doubt about what Ray thinks of the print industry and some of its key players, you'll have no doubt by the end of this.

Ray believes the print industry is in crisis and radical action is required. As usual all opinions are welcome in the comments.
