The Global IP Magazine – January 2026 Edition Is Out Now

Firstly, we are delighted to welcome you to the first 2026 edition of The Global IP Magazine, marking an important milestone in our journey. From this issue forward, the publication formerly known as The Global IP Matrix Magazine officially transitions to The Global IP Magazine, a rebrand that reflects both our growth and our renewed commitment to delivering authoritative, globally relevant intellectual property insight with clarity, depth, and focus.

Since launching in 2018, the publication has become a trusted voice within the international IP community, recognised by leading law firms, in-house counsel, innovators, and service providers worldwide, and consistently ranked first on Google for “intellectual property magazine”. This new identity signals the next phase of our evolution, uniting our editorial mission under a more focused and unified global brand dedicated to capturing the full spectrum of IP innovation, strategy, and industry direction.

For this new issue, our cover feature is written by Hady M. Khawand, Founder and CEO of AIP Genius, who explores the future of human-AI collaboration in IP services. His article examines how advanced technologies can strengthen analytical capabilities while enhancing, rather than replacing, human judgement and strategic decision-making, an essential perspective as digital transformation accelerates across the IP sector.

From Puerto Rico, Eugenio J. Torres Oyola and Karla-In Encarnación Pak of Ferraiuoli LLC present a topical analysis of the legal realities of dupe culture. Their contribution explores the commercial and legal tensions surrounding lookalike products and trade dress imitation, offering guidance on how brands can protect identity, reputation, and value in an increasingly trend-driven digital marketplace.

Turning to copyright, Anomi Wanigasekera and Sabeera Shariff of Julius and Creasy examine a landmark Supreme Court ruling from Sri Lanka involving the works of Clarence Wijewardene. Their article analyses how the judgment clarified economic and moral rights, infringement standards, and available remedies, providing important insight into the future direction of copyright jurisprudence in the region.

Alongside these features, this edition includes a wide range of contributions from IP practitioners and industry leaders worldwide, covering trademarks, patents, enforcement, commercial strategy, and innovation.

We extend our sincere thanks to our authors for sharing their expertise, and to you, our readers, for being part of this growing global IP community. We hope the conversations sparked by this issue inspire collaboration, innovation, and continued progress across the intellectual property landscape.
