We are pleased to present the audio version of the AIPPI Special Edition of The Global IP Magazine - Issue 26, released alongside the AIPPI World Congress 2026 in Hamburg, Germany. This edition brings together timely perspectives on the legal, commercial, and technological developments continuing to shape the global intellectual property landscape.

The edition opens with Javiera Montero of Johansson & Langlois, Chile, who examines trademark cancellation actions introduced under Chile’s Law No. 21.355. Her contribution explores the increasing importance of genuine and effective use in maintaining trademark protection and the practical implications for rights holders.

From Peru, Adriana Barrera of BARLAW - Barrera & Asociados explores the continued growth of patent protection and new technologies, highlighting increased patent activity, university-led innovation, and the frameworks supporting patents, utility models, and industrial designs.

Bringing a perspective from Sri Lanka, Anomi Wanigasekera and Sabeera Shariff of Julius & Creasy examine the protection of undisclosed information and trade secrets under Sri Lanka’s Intellectual Property Act. Their contribution also considers a recent Supreme Court judgment concerning industrial espionage and the misuse of confidential information.

This issue also marks an important milestone for Northon’s Media PR & Marketing Ltd as we prepare for the January 2027 launch of The Women’s IP Alliance. Building on the global community established through The Women’s IP World Annual, the Alliance will connect women across IP, innovation, technology, academia, research, and entrepreneurship through networking, mentorship, professional development, leadership opportunities, specialist resources, and collaboration. Members will also receive access to Sally IP, supporting advanced IP research, drafting, and specialist professional workflows.

Our Conference Corner further highlights developments across the international IP events calendar, including AIPPI, ASIPI, IP Service World, and IP Dealmakers, offering a broader perspective on the conversations and developments shaping the global IP community.

    Guest:
    Nadine Stuttle
    CEO
    PSS Solutions, Switzerland

We are delighted to present Episode 3 of Season 1 of IP Technovation Talks, the podcast series presented by the IP Tech & Innovation Services Annual. In this episode, host Dr Claudia Duffy, Founder of Innovare IP, is joined by Nadine Stuttle, CEO of PSS Solutions, to discuss her feature article, “Technology in IP: Powerful Tools, Complex Reality,” published in the inaugural IP Tech & Innovation Services Annual, exploring today’s fast-evolving IP technology landscape and what organisations must consider when embarking on technology transformation.

With over 26 years of experience in intellectual property, Nadine shares her journey from a legal background into IP operations and technology, and how frustration with inefficient processes and underused systems shaped her approach to transformation and led her to create PSS Solutions, an independent IP-focused consulting and advisory group. She highlights why independence and impartiality are key in helping law firms and corporate IP teams navigate a complex technology marketplace, where integration challenges, legacy systems, data management, and connectivity mean that powerful tools alone are not enough.

The discussion also emphasises the importance of people, structure, and strategy in driving change, alongside the risks of technology debt and the need for ongoing investment and improvement. Looking ahead, Nadine explores the next three to five years of IP technology, including open APIs, greater system connectivity, AI integration, and evolving service models, and considers how these shifts will reshape relationships between corporate IP departments and law firms as both technology and business models continue to evolve.
