Welcome to the NoBS Wealth Podcast, where we cut through the noise and tell the truth about money. Not the cute truth. The real truth. The kind that makes you pause, get uncomfortable, then finally do something different.

I’m Stoy Hall, Certified Financial Planner and founder of Black Mammoth. This show isn’t built for people who want motivation. It’s built for people who want outcomes. Especially women, minorities, LGBTQ folks, and business owners who are tired of being talked down to, sold to, or fed recycled advice that doesn’t fit real life.

Here’s what we do differently.

We don’t spend 10 minutes on bios. We get straight to the topic and we go deep. Every episode follows a simple structure so you leave with clarity, not content consumption.

What’s happening
What’s the real problem and why does it matter right now.

What the media and society are screaming about
The hot takes, myths, half-truths, and fear cycles that keep people stuck.

The expert lens
Not theory. Not generic tips. How real professionals actually work with clients when things get messy. The frameworks, the mistakes, the hard truths.

The plan
Real steps you can take in the next 7 days, 30 days, and 90 days.

This show is for you if you’ve ever thought:

"I’m making money but I still feel behind."
"I’m running a business but cash flow feels like a constant fight."
"I don’t come from money and I’m tired of learning the hard way."
"I’m exhausted from financial anxiety and I need a plan that holds."

We talk about investing and taxes, yes. But we also talk about the stuff most finance podcasts avoid: shame, pressure, identity, family expectations, survival mode, and why your nervous system can hijack every good intention you have.

You’ll hear conversations with the NoBS Collective, a vetted group of up to 31 professionals across money and real life. Tax pros, attorneys, therapists, lenders, advisors, and operators who actually give a damn about people. Not clout. Not hype. Results!

If you want to build real wealth, you don’t need more noise. You need truth and a plan.

Hit follow. Listen weekly. Come ready to feel seen, called out, and leveled up.

Visit nobswealth.com to catch the latest episodes and join the movement.

And yes, we can get explicit around here. If that bothers you, you’re probably in the wrong place.

  • What Happens If You Get Hurt and Can’t Work? | Maxwell Schmitz
    Oct 7 2026

What happens to your business if you get hurt? Not die, get hurt. Sidelined for 90 days and unable to do the thing only you can do. Most business owners have no answer, and that’s the whole problem.

This week Stoy Hall, CFP® brings Maxwell Schmitz back on the show, the guy we’re officially crowning the Disability King, to talk about the protection almost nobody plans for: your own income. Because here’s the uncomfortable math Maxwell drops straight from Social Security, a 20-year-old entering the workforce has a 1 in 4 chance of a long-term disability before they retire. Run that across a team of 10 and the odds someone gets hit climb to roughly 99%. This isn’t an if. It’s a when.

Maxwell breaks down the three tools every business owner needs to understand, and most have never had explained clearly. Individual disability insurance, which protects your lifestyle, the mortgage, the car, the groceries, the college funding, when your earned income dries up. The business overhead expense policy, which reimburses the business’s regular bills so the lights stay on while you recover. And the key man policy, which is the one owners always confuse, because it’s not for the employee, it’s for the business, to fund replacing the person whose absence would put you on the floor.

They get into the stuff the fine print hides. Why your disability coverage might only count your W-2 salary and ignore your K-1 distributions, which is a massive gap for owners. The difference between true own-occupation and modified own-occupation coverage, and why it matters more than people think. How partial and residual claims actually work, since most disabilities start small and get worse, not all at once. And the maternity reality in the US, where that 90-day elimination period is exactly why financial planners preach a three to six month emergency fund. That number isn’t magic. It’s tied directly to this.

Maxwell also walks through what the underwriting process actually looks like, occupation, income, and medical, so you go in knowing what to expect instead of getting spooked halfway through. It’s getting easier, but there are still steps, and knowing them is half the battle.

Stoy’s close is blunt. It’s fall, it’s planning season, and it’s time to look in the mirror and ask how important the most important people in your business really are, starting with you. If it was a 1 in 4 shot at winning the lottery, everyone would buy the ticket. Those are the odds we’re talking about here. So have the conversation.

  • How to Scale a Service Business Without Burning Out | Gabriel Langley
    Oct 7 2026

Your business is your baby, so you grind at it 24/7. But here's the gut check: if you took two weeks off, would it survive, or would it fall apart without you?

If the honest answer is "it'd fall apart," that's not a business. That's a job you built for yourself, and you're the only employee who can't quit. This week Stoy Hall, CFP® brings Gabriel Langley back on the show to talk about the thing most owners never fix: building a machine that runs without you, instead of grinding harder and calling it growth.

Gabriel's core truth lands early and it sticks. You got yourself where you are, but systems are what give you freedom. The problem is most owners keep their entire operation locked in their own head. The SOPs exist, they're just never written down, so nobody can step in, nothing can be handed off, and the owner stays the bottleneck instead of the accelerant. Gabriel breaks down how to actually get it out of your brain and onto paper, starting with one deceptively simple move: define what "done" looks like without you in the handoff.

They go deep on reflection and community, two things owners skip when they're moving too fast. Gabriel makes the case that assessing your systems should be a daily habit, not a once-a-year offsite, and that you're flying blind if you're not in a community of people who actually understand your industry. Stoy backs it with his own numbers, a sales cycle that runs six months to four years, which is exactly why he can't knee-jerk change things every 30 days. The lesson: give a change 60 to 90 days, sometimes 12 to 18 months, before you throw it out.

Then Stoy drops the framework that makes this episode. If you're going to figure out what to delegate, do it through three lenses. One, if money weren't a factor, who would you hire? Two, can you trust someone else to do it? Three, and this is the hard one, can you trust yourself to keep your hands out of the cookie jar and let them do their job? That third lens is where most owners break.

Gabriel's plan to close is simple and you can start it today in 15 minutes: honestly assess your own capacity. Are you actually the best version of your business when you're the end-to-end person, or are you the ceiling it keeps hitting? Slow down, look at what can be automated or streamlined, and get out of your own way.

  • I Got Hacked and Lost 10K Followers: What the Algorithm Actually Wants
    Aug 26 2026

Kristina Hall woke up on a Tuesday and 15 years of Instagram was just gone. Hacked. Over 10,000 followers, wiped.

Most people would spiral. Kristina, a social media strategist 16 years into the game, did something different. She treated herself like a brand new client who'd never posted a day in her life, and rebuilt from zero. In 30 days on a brand new account she racked up 36,000 views and cracked what the algorithm actually rewards right now. This episode is the playbook she pulled out of the wreckage, and it lands right when you need it, heading into Q4.

This week Stoy Hall, CFP® sits down with Kristina Hall of Hall Social Media (https://hallsocialmedia.com/) to break down social media strategy for the final quarter of the year. They get into why short form video is the only thing moving the needle on a cold account, why her seven-second reels became the sweet spot, and why she says skip the stories and carousels entirely when you're starting fresh. If you've stalled out, lost momentum, or just stopped posting, this is your restart.

They also go deep on the stuff most business owners get wrong going into Q4. Why your high-ticket offer should never be the front door of your funnel, how to find the low-hanging fruit that actually gets people in, and why Stoy rebuilt his own backend around a free reality check instead of a $250 ask. Then the part nobody wants to hear: you have to actually engage. Real conversations, real community, not auto-comments and AI slop the algorithm sees right through.

Kristina's hard truth for Q4: most of you are already thinking about Q1 and letting three whole months go to waste. Whatever you do in Q4 fuels Q1, so stop treating it like a throwaway. And her one move you can start today, no budget, no tools, no excuses: go build community. Reach back out to the people you already know, start real conversations, and watch what happens over the next 30, 60, 90 days.

If your own funnel is the thing that's actually broken, take the free reality check Stoy talks about in the episode: the Owner Reality Check (https://www.blackmammoth.com/realitycheck) for business owners, or the Family Reality Check (https://www.blackmammoth.com/family-reality-check) for your household. Ten questions, two minutes, no email.
