Welcome to Never Grow Up, the cozy, nostalgic book-club podcast where we revisit the middle grade stories that shaped us. In this short trailer, we introduce the show, our season format, and what you can expect as we dive back into the books that made us readers.

Our first season is all about Warriors by Erin Hunter. Each episode, we’ll break down a book, try to make sense of what these crazy cats are doing, and explore what it means to be a warrior.

Hosted by Laura, lifelong reader and crafty fox enthusiast, and Jerrica, unicorn-at-heart and lover of all things whimsical, Never Grow Up is your cozy corner for reconnecting with childhood favorites.

Subscribe now and join us as on January 1st, as we dive into who Erin Hunter is and why one of them got kicked out for being a TERF.

In this prologue episode, Laura teaches Jerrica all about the history of how Erin Hunter came to be, and the many authors and one editor who has been involved with the group.

Into the Wild by Erin Hunter is our first book to share and there's a whole lot that goes on. These cats were described as having "Shakspearean problems" and lemme tell you, they truly do.

For generations, four Clans of wild cats have shared the forest according to the laws laid down by their warrior ancestors. But the ThunderClan cats are in grave danger, and the sinister ShadowClan grows stronger every day. Noble warriors are dying—and some deaths are more mysterious than others. In the midst of this turmoil appears an ordinary house cat named Rusty . . . who may turn out to be the bravest warrior of them all.

Fireheart is gonna have to take a break this week, cause we're interrupting to talk about our queen Bluestar and how she deals with a deeply traumatic life. Our girl goes through so much, and we can only hope she'll get through it.

Four Clans of wild cats have shared the forest for generations, thriving in their territories. But tensions are running high, and ThunderClan must assert its strength or risk falling prey to its power-hungry neighbors.Into this time of uncertainty, a kit is born. A prophecy foretells that Bluekit will be as strong as fire, destined to blaze through the ranks of her Clan. But with this prophecy comes the foreshadowing of her destruction by the one enemy she cannot outrun. As Bluekit gains power and eventually earns her leader name, Bluestar, she fights to protect her Clan. But secrets from the past threaten to surface—secrets that may destroy ThunderClan... and Bluestar.

Bluestar is really hurting, y'all. This one was hard to talk about. She deals with very relatable sorrows, and it's pretty heavy even for these tragic cat books. We get through it though, and in two weeks we'll be back to Fireheart and his (sad) shenanigans.
