What happens when witchcraft, plant magic, and practical self-defense come together?

In this episode of Mystical Mermaid Lounge, hosts Chloe Brown and Desert Radiant Star welcome bestselling author, green witch, and botanical magic practitioner Amy Blackthorn for a conversation about protection magic, intuition, plant spirits, shadow work, and reclaiming personal power.

Amy shares her journey from discovering witchcraft as a child to becoming an award-winning author and teacher of botanical magic. From her early fascination with plants to her experiences working in corporate security, she explains how her spiritual practice and real-world experiences shaped her approach to magical protection.

The conversation explores the relationship between intuition and personal safety, including how Amy's connection with plant spirits helped her recognize a dangerous situation in her own life. She discusses the importance of situational awareness, trusting your instincts, establishing boundaries, and understanding that spiritual protection and practical self-defense can work together.

Amy also introduces her book, Blackthorn's Botanical Shadow Work: Healing Through the Dark with Plant Magic, sharing how botanical allies can support the process of exploring difficult emotions, integrating hidden aspects of ourselves, and developing greater self-awareness.

Along the way, Amy reflects on the challenges of practicing witchcraft publicly, building relationships with plant spirits, and learning to trust ourselves through experience.

Whether you're exploring green witchcraft, curious about plant spirit communication, or interested in protection magic and shadow work, this conversation offers a grounded perspective on developing your magical practice while honoring your personal sovereignty.

What can your aura reveal about your energy, relationships, and healing?

In this episode of Mystical Mermaid Lounge, Chloe Brown and Chione sit down with Shana Madsen, a Reiki Master Teacher, hypnosis and energy medicine practitioner who has spent years exploring the unseen through healing work and aura photography.

Shana shares how the loss of her brother transformed her spiritual path, leading her from a career with the medical examiner's office into Reiki, hypnosis, shamanic practices, and energy healing. She also opens up about growing up in a deeply religious environment, navigating religious trauma, and ultimately finding a spiritual practice that allowed her to reconnect with the divine on her own terms.

The conversation dives into Shana's work with aura photography, including the patterns she has observed before and after energy work, how emotional states can appear to shift an aura reading, what different aura colors can represent, and why she believes the people around us can affect our energy.

They also explore Reiki, chakras, grief, spiritual sovereignty, intuition, energetic protection, spirit communication, angels, visualization, and the relationship between our thoughts and energy.
