THE LAST MARATHON ME

After close to four years, 150 episodes and a hell of a lot of movies, Marathon Me comes to a close. But who knows, maybe this will be a "final chapter" the likes of Friday the 13th Part 4 or Saw 7, that end up being nowhere near the last entry!

Rhys is going to Europe for an undisclosed amount of time, and the time differences, nomadic nature of the trip and different cuisines overseas, it looks like putting the podcast to bed for a hot minute is the best approach for now.

What the boys have to leave you off with is a little bit of a reminisce and overview of their experience over the last few years, including some favourite and least favourite memories from their time.

Who knows what the next step will be for Marathon Me... a sequel? a remake? a reboot?

The journey proving to be as close to a mixed bag as one could imagine for a filmmakers' career.

What happens to Kevo's career and filmography when the man is faced with death itself and has to confront it? Jay and Silent Bob Reboot happens: the most Kevin Smith movie ever made.

In this View-Askew installment, determined to avenge their legal defeat to Saban Films, Jay and Silent Bob set out for LA to try and stop the shooting of a film being produced by the company (sounds a bit familiar).

And on top of this, Kevo brings out an anthology horror film in the shape of an NFT (the less said about this one, the better).

Rhys and Kane explore the start of a very existential version of Kevo, that has now shifted to a worldview that every day he has on earth is one gifted to him by fate.

Just what the world asked for... a pseudo-sequel to Tusk. How did a get a film like Yoga Hosers from Kevin Smith? The answer: a lot of weed. It also seems you get an over-the-top vulgar animated film as well as a nice bonus.

When Yoga Hosers sees Harley Quinn Smith and Lily Rose Depp play disinterested teenagers who fight-off tiny Bratwurst-Nazis, Jay and Silent Bob become hardcore superheroes in their own ugly cartoon dimension.

Rhys and Kane take on a double billing of probably the strangest that Kevin has had to offer so far. Projects that you can't help but get a little confused about.

After making a name for himself in the raunchy comedy space and becoming a becoming a bit of an icon for his relatable yet lightly flawed characters; Kevin changes course once again to something no one could have ever expected, horror movies.

Opening this new chapter for Kev is 'Red State,' a pre-MAGA ultra-conservative threat cult thriller that keeps the vulgarity, but adds a layer of intensity - showing the visual literacy possessed by the film maker. Then comes a 70s homage body-horror, informed by so much stoner-energy that you can smell the weed-smoke emanating off of it, in the shape of 'Tusk.'

Kane and Rhys unpack this new era for the director and how the change of style could hinder or build up his profile, and if the now prolific podcaster/stoner-icon/internet-personality knows how to do horror properly.

It seems the View-Askew bible is ACTUALLY closed now and we're onto a new phase for Kevo. Who would've known this next phase was making other people's movies?

On one hand, the director steals Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks to make his own Judd Apatow movie, and on the other, he borrows Bruce Willis, Tracy Morgan and someone else's script to make a buddy cop film. Is this even the same guy we came to know and love as teenagers?

Rhys and Kane dive head-first into this new phase and see which proves to be the kindest for the film maker that if anything... seems a bit lost at this point in his career.
