  • Talking Evrything Auto…and so much more: with Mike LaRocca

Buying a car shouldn’t require eight hours, a negotiation team, and a recovery day. This week, Heather Kaplan sits down with Mike LaRocca of Evrything Auto to talk car shopping, customer service, and why your uncle who “knows how to negotiate” might want to sit this one out.

Mike brings honest advice and plenty of opinions—from what an auto broker actually does to the cars he thinks are overrated. Heather shares how her own car arrived with a monthly payment $60 lower than promised. Yes, lower. She was surprised, too.

Beyond the deals, Mike shares how a birthday parade during COVID turned into a community effort bringing smiles to Long Island families—and how he finally got the dream car his teenage self had on his wish list.

Then come the important questions: Why won’t he wear a hotel robe? What exactly is keeping him hooked on The Curse of Oak Island? And how does a car broker turn a bottle of glue into a power struggle?

Come for the car talk. Stay for the laughs—and a man who apparently answers texts faster than most people answer their own door.

Connect with Mike at Evrything Auto: Call or text 631-597-9443.

  • The Show Must Go On…But You Can Leave—with Michael Cohen

How do you know when it’s time to leave something you worked so hard to build?

My cousin Michael Cohen knows a thing or two about keeping a show running—and deciding when it’s time for his own next act. From Broadway stage manager to entrepreneur to NBCUniversal, his résumé has range. But I knew him before any of that. I was his babysitter, and I have stories.

We talk about the backstage world of A Bronx Tale and Be More Chill, the printing business that took over his apartment, and the cold email that changed his career. Michael also gets candid about divorce after a 16-year relationship, the pressure of coming from a family of lifelong marriages, and discovering that an ending can be something to embrace.

Then there’s the stuff only your cousin can bring up: the battered Nissan we both drove, my $300 Buick’s dashboard ritual, and why I still remember the snacks at his parents’ house. We compare TV obsessions, debate diner potatoes, and give Michael the chance to accept an award nobody actually gave him.

Big changes. Old stories. And a cousin who knows that coming on my podcast means we’re going to talk about all of it.

Heather welcomes Ken and Sara Parkinson for a conversation filled with love, laughter, and stories from a friendship that spans three generations. Both teachers, Ken and Sara share their journeys, including Sara’s decision to return to school later in life to become an educator; and Ken’s leap into starting Leap Home Improvement.

  • Pilates, Power & Living Out Loud with Emily Phillips
    Sep 18 2026

Lawyer. Lifestyle creator. Pilates instructor. Taylor Swift superfan. Mother of three. And a woman who is never afraid to say the thing everyone else is thinking.

Emily Phillips does not do anything halfway—and this episode is no exception.

Emily has built a devoted online community by being refreshingly authentic, fiercely honest and completely herself. She shares the workouts, the outfits, the motherhood moments, the opinions and the beautifully imperfect reality behind it all. She is also thriving in her own weight-loss journey, having already lost an incredible 60 pounds.

But living publicly also means facing criticism—especially from people who believe they have the right to comment on a woman’s body.

Emily has heard the comments about her weight. She has felt the judgment. And instead of shrinking, she has answered with strength, honesty and power. She is challenging the idea that fitness can be measured by a number on a scale and reminding women that strong bodies—and strong women—do not all look the same.

In this unforgettable Season 2 premiere of Laugh Love Law, Emily opens up about balancing several careers, raising three children, putting parts of her life online and deciding which pieces still belong only to her. She talks about confidence, criticism, boundaries, body image, authenticity and the complicated art of sharing your life without giving the entire world access to it.

Bold, beautiful, funny, vulnerable and unapologetically honest—this is Emily Phillips exactly as she is.

And trust us: she has a lot to say.

  • Strong Women Don’t Come With an Off Switch: with Melissa Sposato Tortora, Esq.
    Sep 4 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

For the Season One finale of Laugh Love Law, Heather is joined by someone who has been part of her life for more than 25 years — Melissa Sposato Tortora — which means this episode comes with history, stories, laughter, absolutely no filter, and more than a little friendly roasting.

Melissa is the kind of woman who makes you wonder if the rest of us are just wasting daylight.

She is a shareholder and managing attorney at McCabe, Weisberg & Conway, a proud alumna of Kellenberg Memorial High School, Fairfield University and Hofstra Law School, and has been recognized for her work and dedication to the Crime Victims Center. She is an exceptional mom, a devoted wife, a fiercely loyal friend, and — because apparently attorney, managing shareholder, wife and mother weren’t enough — an often unpaid wedding singer.

But this conversation is about much more than Melissa’s résumé.

It’s about being a strong woman.

Melissa talks about the women and experiences that shaped her, and how her own childhood taught her early on that a woman does not have to choose between being ambitious and being present, between building a career and building a family, or between taking care of everyone else and still having goals of her own.

She believes women can have it all — but she’s also honest about what that actually takes.

Heather and Melissa get into the reality of work-family balance, marriage, motherhood, careers, friendship, expectations, and the importance of raising the next generation to see strong women not as the exception, but as the standard.

And because these two have known each other for more than 25 years, none of this happens without detours.

There are old stories. There are people who probably should be nervous that their names came up. There is plenty of making fun of each other — and themselves. And underneath all of the sarcasm and laughter is something much bigger: two women looking back at where they started, everything life threw at them along the way, and the women they became.

Melissa is smart, strong, successful, funny, a devoted wife and mother, fiercely committed to the people she loves, and completely unapologetic about wanting a full life.

And that feels like exactly the right note on which to end Season One.

Strong women. Long friendships. Big careers. Real life. And absolutely no pretending that balancing all of it is easy.

That’s a wrap on Season One of Laugh Love Law.

  • Heart, Hustle & Humor with Catherine Montiel

Catherine Montiel is the kind of attorney you want in your corner — smart, fearless, fiercely loyal, and completely devoted to the people she represents. As a partner at Miller Montiel & Strano, P.C., Catherine has built relationships with clients that span generations, representing families from grandparents all the way down to their grandkids.

But this episode is personal for me. Catherine was my boss when I was basically a kid, working my way through college and law school. Somehow, all these years later, the boss became a colleague — and, even better, a friend.

We talk about building a career with both strength and heart, raising two spectacular adults while being the ultimate mama bear, and the very funny side of Catherine that her courtroom opponents might not always get to see. We also get into one of her most defining characteristics: she may be a fearless attorney, but put the wrong food in front of this ridiculously picky eater and all bets are off.

We chat about how, for us, being working moms made us better at doing both jobs! And then Catherine reveals a hidden talent I definitely did not see coming: apparently she can sing all “Fifty Nifty United States.”

Powerhouse attorney. Devoted mom. Loyal friend. Picky eater. Unexpected geography vocalist.

This one is smart, funny, warm and relatable!

  • Love, Law &… Goats? | Leslie & Ken Loock
    Aug 21 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

It’s a two-for-one episode when Leslie and Ken Loock take over the couch—and honestly, these two could have their own sitcom.

Both are attorneys; Leslie is also a professor, and together they are absolute comedic gold. Think The Not-So-Newlywed Game meets Seinfeld: quick banter, hilarious disagreements, great stories and the kind of chemistry that only comes from years of marriage, friendship and raising a family together.

We talk about parenting, studying for the bar exam, longtime friendships and old memories, travel, the legal industry, bias, marriage—and, somehow, goats.

It’s smart, funny, candid and completely unpredictable. One minute we’re talking about serious issues in the legal profession, and the next we’re somewhere none of us expected to be.

Two attorneys. One marriage. A lot of laughs. And yes… goats.
