We start with the honest stuff. The Good: the young players stepping up when the Leafs need a spark. The Bad: the losses, defensive breakdowns and inconsistent goaltending that keep costing the Leafs leads. The Ugly: the lack of structure on the ice (Jayden has a lot to say about this one), and whether Hiller, who let's be real, is wearing this right now, can make the necessary adjustments.

Week one is in the books, Leafs fans, and what a wild one it was ! 🍁

We kick things off with Leaf it to the Ladies, where we asked you how you're feeling about the 74 year tradition of Hockey Night in Canada coming to an end. We had some great stories and a surprise caller!

Then Mike Augello, our Ladies Talkin' Leafs insider, joins us for the Third Period to talk about GM John Chayka's eleventh-hour trade of fan favourite Matthew Knies for Kirill Marchenko and everything the Leafs have been up to this first week.

And so it begins... This week we are kicking off a new season of the show — and we're starting it as a family affair. Chris is on LTIR, so with our leftover cap space we called up Syl's son, Jayden Wastle, to the show, and we kick things off talking about how being a Leafs fan became a family tradition passed down to him (for better or worse).

Then we get into the biggest offseason this franchise has had in years. In The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Jayden and I hand out our own report card on the Leafs whirlwind first summer — Chayka's swift action, early front runners for best signings of the summer, and a curious buck at tradition.

We wrap with a Third Period segment where we share our early pre-season impressions: our first look at McKenna and Auston Matthews, why Nick Paul's energy is already infectious, the line combinations we're seeing take shape under new coach Jim Hiller, and our (probably too early) predictions for award winners, breakout players, and where this retooled roster is headed.
