  • How to Grieve | Psalm 13 | Josh Gardner | Psalms: The Songbook of Jesus.
    Jul 27 2026

    Suffering is universal. We're either walking out of it, stuck in it, or bracing for it. But Psalm 13 offers a surprising answer: not stoic silence, not fake positivity, but lament. David shows us the honest path: crying out to God with raw grief, boldly asking for help, and then choosing to trust even when nothing's changed. And God welcomes every bit of it.

    The real invitation in Psalm 13 is to greater honesty with God actually leads to greater closeness with him. He's not offended by our pain, and he's not distant from it either. Jesus himself entered our sorrow and became the "man of sorrows" so we'd never have to grieve alone. So don't just endure the dark. Bring it to God. That's not weak faith. That's exactly what faith looks like.

  • When Words Wound | Psalm 12 | Josh Gardner | Psalms: The Songbook of Jesus
    Jul 23 2026

    Words can build up or burn down. In Psalm 12, David cries out to God surrounded by lies, flattery, and pride -- a feeling many of us know well. The root of it all? A heart that says, "Who is master over me?"

    But there is a word that cuts through every lie. "The words of the Lord are pure, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times." (Psalm 12:6) God's word does not bend, shift, or deceive. It holds.

    When the world around you feels full of deceit and the noise gets loud, the answer is not better words from us -- it is resting in the word God has already spoken over us through Jesus Christ.

    Know it. Cherish it. Submit to it. Rest in it.

    The Faithful Have Vanished

    12 To the choirmaster: according to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David.

    1 Save, O Lord, for the godly one is gone;

    for the faithful have vanished from among the children of man.

    2 Everyone utters lies to his neighbor;

    with flattering lips and a double heart they speak.

    3 May the Lord cut off all flattering lips,

    the tongue that makes great boasts,

    4 those who say, "With our tongue we will prevail,

    our lips are with us; who is master over us?"

    5 "Because the poor are plundered, because the needy groan,

    I will now arise," says the Lord;

    "I will place him in the safety for which he longs."

    6 The words of the Lord are pure words,

    like silver refined in a furnace on the ground,

    purified seven times.

    7 You, O Lord, will keep them;

    you will guard us from this generation forever.

    8 On every side the wicked prowl,

    as vileness is exalted among the children of man.

    The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles, 2025), Ps 12

  • When Foundations Crumble | Psalm 11 | Austin Glenn | Psalms: The Songbook of Jesus
    Jul 14 2026

    What do you do when everything feels unstable — your finances, your marriage, your future? In that moment, there are two voices competing for your attention, and most of us don't even realize we're choosing between them. One of them sounds like wisdom. It isn't.

    David faced this delima with everyone around him telling him to run. Psalm 11 captures the internal battle that followed — and how he was able to stand firm when the foundaitons where crumbling.
