  • Labour of Life
    Sep 13 2026

In the world of work, how do we define ourselves by who we are along with what we do?

This episode shares insights from five summer reads about being nice, doing it all, living as a multi-hyphenate, feeling like you are enough, and "careering" hard.

    Featured writing includes:

The Myth of the Nice Girl, by Fran Hauser

Darling, You Can't Do Both, by Janet Kestin and Nancy Vonk

The Multi-Hyphen Life, by Emma Gannon

The Good Enough Job, by Simone Stolzoff

    Careering, by Daisy Buchanan

Along the way we gather plenty of wisdom to speak up, let go of perfect, live in many dimensions, make room for life and claim the space to act for ourselves.

  • Independence Play
    Sep 4 2026

In this episode we are acknowledging the sound of American Independence with a twist. This July 4 marked 250 years since the Second Continental Congress formally adopted the Declaration of Independence in the United States of America.

One day before this official anniversary, Madonna released a new album that is built on the concept of freedom from tyranny too, only hers plays out on the dancefloor. This got us thinking about the connection between political independence, and independent music. So we’re following her lead and considering how to go it alone through the story of cutting edge music as it played out in the early 2000s.

Through a parallel reading of Michael Barclay's Hearts on Fire and Chris DeVille's Such Great Heights we will share some takeaways about trend cycles, who decides what is ‘cool,’ the hazards of fame and how to maintain integrity under financial pressure.

Whether performing in a rock arena or a political one, there are lessons too about what it means to remain truly independent, and the tradeoffs that come along with freedom. And there are reminders about the power of creative work, in any field, and how it can endure when coming from an honest place.

Listen for more, and long live the free!

  • Building Liberty
    Aug 5 2026

The Statue of Liberty is one of the world’s greatest icons, appearing in countless movies, photographs, souvenirs and comics.

It’s easy to feel like she has always been there, towering over New York Harbour. Yet Liberty is a relatively modern construction, built by French ideas and manufacturing ingenuity.

The story of her construction offers a lot to consider about innovation, determination and of course, freedom.

  • Art-Work 4: Ways of Seeing
    Jul 4 2026

This is the fourth and final episode in our series about the relationship between Art and Work.

We’re going back in time to 1972, learning how to SEE with John Berger. His four-part BBC series called Ways of Seeing challenged the art history establishment and still today is a classic with relevance for our own image-saturated times.

Through the power of looking, noticing and thinking about what we see, we retain the power to THINK and make connections, dig deeper and experience insights that can spark our own ability to act.

This is the third episode in our series about the relationship between Art and Work.

We’re rediscovering Hilma af Klint, a Swedish painter and visionary who is now widely acknowledged as the world’s first modern abstract artist.

Af Klint once wrote, “I am an atom in the universe that has access to infinite possibilities...and it is these possibilities I want, gradually, to reveal.”

Her story, struggles and ultimate triumph in a 2018 show at the Guggenheim reveal to us the importance of Vision, Context, Courage and Community.
