Sony is cutting jobs at Sucker Punch despite the success of Ghost of Yōtei, and Call of Duty is facing controversy over real-life tragedy footage. Seriously, WHAT is happening to the gaming industry?!

First up, Sucker Punch, the studio behind Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yōtei, is reportedly facing layoffs affecting roughly 10% of its workforce. How can a studio deliver a successful game and STILL lose employees? Are PlayStation and other gaming giants cutting costs out of necessity, or is corporate greed getting out of control? And could AI be making things even worse for game developers?

Then, Activision is facing backlash over footage associated with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 that reportedly included imagery from the tragic 2022 Itaewon crowd crush in South Korea. Is this an innocent mistake, an attempt at realism, or a serious lapse in judgment?

Welcome back to Just Because Gaming! This week, Michael and Ray dive into some wild Xbox developments, outrageous next-gen console price rumors, and a few gaming decisions that have us seriously questioning what the industry is thinking.

Xbox is expanding beyond gaming! Microsoft's rumored Xbox XP initiative could bring us more movies, TV shows, collectibles, live events, and maybe even an actual Xbox theme park! Imagine walking through Halo, exploring Tamriel from The Elder Scrolls, or experiencing Gears of War in real life. We're absolutely here for it!

But that's not all. Xbox is reportedly introducing Mythic Achievements, giving completionists something similar to PlayStation's Platinum Trophies. Is Xbox finally giving achievement hunters the recognition they deserve, or is this just another case of copying the competition?

Meanwhile, Michael has some VERY strong opinions about Assassin's Creed Shadows, especially Yasuke, who apparently has all the stealth capabilities of an elephant crashing through a china shop.

And then there's the BIG one...

The next Xbox could cost between $1,200 and $1,800, with the PS6 potentially carrying a similarly ridiculous price tag! Between skyrocketing RAM costs, AI-driven hardware demand, and questionable console pricing, are we entering an era where gaming consoles become luxury purchases?

Oh, and why on Earth would GameStop charge MORE for a USED PS5 Pro than you could potentially pay for a brand-new one?!
