  • 7. Hustle vs flow
    Feb 17 2022

Hustle culture teaches us that if you want to achieve something, you have to put in the work.

At face value, there’s nothing wrong with this message. The trouble is that hustle culture prioritizes hard work above all else, disregarding physical and mental wellbeing. In short, hustling is a recipe for burnout and low self-esteem.

The opposite of hustle is flow, the state of joyful engagement in challenging creative work that leaves you feeling tired but proud rather than exhausted and resentful.

In today's episode, we're going to explore the difference between hustle and flow in depth. Then I'll share with the the four simple steps you can take to start ditching hustle in favor of flow ASAP. Let's get started.

  • 6. Creative superiority complex
    Feb 10 2022

Most writers struggle with creative inferiority complex, fearing that they're not good enough in some capacity to succeed with their creative work.

But today, I want to flip the script and talk about the opposite of creative inferiority: creative *superiority* complex.

We've all encountered writers who think they're better than other writers, who can't handle the kindest word of criticism and who are all too fond of calling their perceived enemies 'haters' and 'trolls.'

But what you might not realize is that thoughts of creative superiority commonly arise in every writer's life, especially as they begin to grow and develop skill in their craft.

That's why we're going to dive into creative superiority complex in today's episode. So that we can understand where it comes from, how it's operating as a defense mechanism, and how we can begin to heal from conditioning that pits writer against writer as we all work to achieve our personal definitions of writing success.
