Cinema and Movie Theatre Advertising: Why Are Advertisers Still Spending Money on It?

I genuinely don’t understand why some businesses are still spending a fortune advertising on cinema screens, especially when so many screenings have hardly anyone in the audience.

Think about it. You’re paying significant amounts of money to advertise on a massive screen, but what happens when there are only a handful of people watching?

I understand the appeal of cinema advertising when theatres are full. You have a captive audience, a massive screen and very few distractions.

But what happens when those seats are empty?

What makes it even more frustrating is the cost, the booking commitments and the limited flexibility advertisers often have.

And here’s what surprises me even more.

Some businesses continue to invest heavily in traditional advertising channels like cinemas, television, print and billboards, yet refuse to consider digital marketing.

With Google Ads, SEO and social media advertising, businesses have opportunities to reach relevant audiences, measure performance and make changes based on actual results.

I’m not saying traditional advertising doesn’t work. I’m questioning whether cinema advertising still makes financial sense, particularly when audience numbers are low.

I’d genuinely love to hear from advertisers who still invest in cinema advertising. What am I missing?

  • Google Ads Auto-Apply Recommendation Changes Could Be Hurting Your Campaign Performance!
    Oct 21 2026

Google Ads Auto-Apply Recommendation Changes Could Be Hurting Your Campaign Performance!

I recently audited a Google Ads account for a potential client in Toronto, Canada, and immediately spotted a major red flag: Auto-Apply Recommendations were enabled.

These settings allow Google to automatically make changes to your campaigns, potentially including:

    • Removing negative keywords
    • Removing existing keywords
    • Expanding campaign targeting
    • Changing keyword match types
    • Adjusting automated bidding settings

Imagine spending months carefully optimising your campaigns, only for Google’s automated recommendations to undo some of that work.

My advice? Check your Google Ads Auto-Apply Recommendations immediately.

Review your Change History, see exactly what changes have been made, and switch off any automatic recommendations you haven’t deliberately approved.

Your Google Ads campaigns should be managed according to your business goals, not blindly automated.

  • Michael Olise’s Nike Deal Is Unlike Anything We’ve Seen in Football!
    Oct 20 2026

Michael Olise’s Nike Deal Is Unlike Anything We’ve Seen in Football!

While most of the world’s biggest footballers sign multi-million-pound boot sponsorship deals, Michael Olise has been doing something completely different.

The Bayern Munich superstar has reportedly refused sponsorship deals for years because he wants the freedom to choose his own football boots.

And here’s where the story gets really interesting.

His favourite boots are the Nike Hypervenom Phantom III, originally released in 2017 and discontinued years ago!

Rather than switching to newer models, Olise has been tracking down rare pairs from around the world and even getting artists to customise them with unique designs and colours.

Now, following Kylian Mbappé’s departure from Nike to join Swiss sportswear brand On, reports suggest that Nike has agreed a major sponsorship deal with Olise.

Even more interesting? Nike is reportedly planning to bring back the legendary Hypervenom range in 2027, with Olise playing a leading role.

Think about that. Instead of changing his boots to suit a sponsor, Olise may have helped convince one of the world’s biggest sporting brands to bring back the boots he loves.

An incredible story about individuality, brand loyalty and the power of personal preference.

Did you know this about Michael Olise?

  • ASUS ZenScreen OLED MQ16FC: The Portable Monitor I Didn’t Know I Needed!

ASUS ZenScreen OLED MQ16FC: The Portable Monitor I Didn’t Know I Needed!

My good friends at ASUS recently sent me their new ASUS ZenScreen OLED MQ16FC, and after using it for the past few days, I can honestly say it’s made a huge difference to my productivity.

I’m constantly on the road, meeting clients or working from coffee shops. While I’m used to having multiple screens in my office, working from just my MacBook can be frustrating.

    This portable monitor changes that!

Here’s what I love about it:

    • 16-inch OLED display with beautiful picture quality.
    • Ultra-thin and lightweight, making it easy to carry around.
    • Plug-and-play USB-C connectivity, so there’s virtually no setup.
    • Built-in kickstand with portrait and landscape positioning.
    • Extra screen space for multitasking wherever I’m working.

It’s one of those products you don’t realise you need until you actually start using it.

The ASUS ZenScreen OLED MQ16FC hasn’t launched in South Africa yet, but I’ve been fortunate enough to get an early look.

If you’re constantly working on the move, this is definitely worth checking out!

  • How to Audit Your Entire Website’s Onsite SEO with Screaming Frog
    Oct 18 2026

How to Audit Your Entire Website’s Onsite SEO with Screaming Frog

Want to check hundreds or even thousands of webpages for SEO issues without going through them individually?

One of my favourite SEO tools is Screaming Frog SEO Spider, which allows you to crawl an entire website and identify onsite SEO problems at scale.

With Screaming Frog, you can quickly check:

    • Page Titles: Find missing, duplicate or overly long titles and check their character counts.
    • Meta Descriptions: Identify missing, duplicate or excessively long descriptions.
    • H1 Headings: Find missing, duplicate or multiple H1s across your website.
    • URLs: Review page addresses, redirects and potential indexing issues.
    • Character Counts: Check title and description lengths across hundreds of pages in one place.

Instead of manually checking every page, Screaming Frog gives you a comprehensive overview of your website’s onsite SEO and highlights issues that need attention.

I use it regularly for SEO audits because it’s incredibly useful for identifying problems, prioritising fixes and making sure the fundamentals are correctly optimised.

If you’re serious about SEO, Screaming Frog is one tool you should know how to use.

  • Onsite SEO Character Limits for Page Meta Titles and Page Meta Descriptions
    Oct 16 2026

Onsite SEO Character Limits for Page Meta Titles and Page Meta Descriptions

If you’re serious about onsite SEO, there are two numbers you should never forget: 60 and 160.

60 Characters: The maximum length I recommend for your SEO page titles.

160 Characters: The maximum length I recommend for your meta descriptions.

These are two character limits I’m extremely strict about when optimising websites, and I make sure my SEO team follows them too.

    Why are they so important?

When your page meta titles or descriptions are too long, Google may cut them off in search results, displaying three dots, or rewrite them entirely.

Remember, every character counts, including spaces and punctuation!

One of the simplest ways to avoid this is by using a free online character counter. Just paste your page title or description into the tool, and you can instantly see whether you’re within the recommended limits.

Although Google doesn’t enforce fixed character limits, 60 and 160 are two numbers I strongly recommend sticking to when doing onsite SEO.

Sometimes the smallest details can make a significant difference to your website’s search visibility.

The Best FREE Chrome Extension for Onsite SEO!

One of the SEO tools I use probably 100 times a day is completely free, and it’s an absolute time-saver.

It’s called the Detailed SEO Extension, and if you’re serious about SEO, I highly recommend installing it.

With just one click, you can instantly check:

    • Page titles and meta descriptions, including character lengths.
    • H1 headings and other HTML headings.
    • Schema markup and structured data.
    • Internal and external links.
    • Robots.txt and XML sitemaps.

One of my favourite features is the right-click menu, which lets you open any website directly in Ahrefs, Semrush, Similarweb and other SEO tools.

Detailed was acquired by Ahrefs in 2025, and the extension remains completely free.

No subscriptions, no registration and no complicated setup.

Whether you’re doing SEO audits, competitor research or checking your own website, this is one Chrome extension worth having.

  • Does Google and AI Know What Your Website Is About? Your Homepage Title Matters!
    Oct 14 2026

Does Google and AI Know What Your Website Is About? Your Homepage Title Matters!

One of the most important elements of SEO and Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) is your homepage title.

It’s prime real estate for telling Google, Bing, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and other search engines and AI platforms exactly what your business does.

Yet so many websites get this completely wrong.

Your homepage title shouldn’t just say “Home” or contain only your brand name. It should include your primary keywords and clearly communicate what your business offers.

This is one of the first things I look at when auditing a website, and you’d be surprised how often even established businesses overlook it.

Getting your homepage title right is one of the simplest onsite SEO changes you can make, and it can sometimes produce significant improvements in search visibility.

Don’t underestimate the power of your homepage title.
