Why do we so often wait until we're running on empty beforegiving ourselves the kindness we readily offer others?
In this episode of The Kindness We Forget, I'm joinedby Rosie Nixon, bestselling author, former Editor-in-Chief of HELLO! magazine, coach and founder of Rosie's Reinvention Retreats.
Despite having written a book about kindness, Rosie shareshow she found herself approaching burnout and needing to rethink what success, fulfilment and self-kindness really meant to her.
We explore what it takes to move from knowing self-kindnessmatters to actually practising it, not just when life becomes overwhelming, but on an ordinary Tuesday.
From morning rituals and scheduling Thrive Time toreconnecting with our values and recognising when it's time for change, Rosie shares practical ways to build self-kindness into everyday life.
We also explore why reinvention doesn't mean starting again, how our definition of success evolves, and why being busy isn't necessarily the same as being stressed.
In this conversation, we explore:
- Why knowing about self-kindness doesn't always mean we're practising it.
- What sustainable self-kindness looks like on an ordinary Tuesday.
- Rosie's personal rituals, non-negotiables and the importance of Thrive Time.
- How reconnecting with our values can help us make kinder decisions.
- Why reinvention can be an act of self-kindness, rather than a crisis.
- Rosie's practical PRO approach: Pause, Reflect, Organise.
- Why self-kindness is something we're all continually learning to practise.

About The Kindness We Forget and #24forKindness
Conversations about sustainable self-kindness, because a kinder future starts with you.
The Kindness We Forget grew from #24forKindness, a 24-hour fundraising challenge in support of Mind during Mental Health Awareness Week in May 2026. Season One revisits conversations from that event, exploring the role of sustainable self-kindness in how we live, work, lead and care for ourselves and others.
You will hear references to watching live or donating during this conversation. These relate to the original event and are not part of a current fundraising campaign.
Collectively, #24forKindness raised enough to enable Mind to provide 182 people with a 1:1 call at a time of need; support that otherwise wouldn’t have been funded.
If you enjoyed this episode, we'd love you to follow the podcast and share it with someone who might enjoy the conversation too.
