  • My Journey to Traditional Chinese Medicine: Healing Eczema, Understanding Qi & the Real Meaning of TCM
    Sep 22 2026

In this founding episode of The Space Between Podcast, Dr. Sondrina Bullitt, Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, shares the personal health journey that led her away from Western medicine and into holistic healing. After years of misusing a prescribed steroid cream for eczema, Dr. Sondrina experienced a frightening full-body reaction — hair loss, systemic inflammation, and sudden food sensitivities — that sent her searching for answers Western medicine couldn't give her.

That search led her to gut healing, naturopathic medicine, food sensitivity testing, and eventually acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine — the practice she now teaches through this show. She opens up about becoming a Black American woman practicing an ancestral medicine that isn't her own, earning her doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine, and why she believes Eastern and Western medicine are meant to complement, not compete with, each other.

The second half of the episode breaks down what Traditional Chinese Medicine actually is — beyond the acupuncture needles and Gua Sha trends you've seen online. Dr. Sondrina explains foundational TCM concepts including Qi (vital life energy), Yin and Yang, the Five Elements, and the body's organ systems, plus TCM treatment modalities like acupuncture, acupressure, herbal medicine, cupping, Tui Na bodywork, Qigong, and Tai Chi.

    In this episode:

    • Dr. Sondrina's personal healing journey from steroid-induced eczema to holistic medicine

    • Gut health, food sensitivity testing, and naturopathic healing

    • Why she chose Traditional Chinese Medicine over Western and naturopathic paths

    • What Qi actually means and its five core functions in the body

    • An introduction to Yin and Yang, the Five Elements, and TCM organ systems

    • TCM modalities explained: acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, Gua Sha, Tui Na, Qigong, and Tai Chi

    • A preview of Episode 2: the lung and large intestine systems and supporting health through the fall/autumn season

  • Preview -Healing in the Space Between: A Journey with Dr. Sondrina
    Sep 19 2026

Welcome to the very first episode of The Space Between Podcast. In this founding episode, Dr. Sondrina Bullitt — Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine — opens the space with an honest check-in: not the autopilot "I'm fine," but a real invitation to pause and notice how you're actually feeling, emotionally and in your body.

From there, Dr. Sondrina takes us into her own story: how a Black American woman found her path into the ancient, deeply rooted practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and what that journey taught her about healing, identity, and integrative care. She then lays the groundwork for what TCM actually is — setting the stage for the deeper, seasonal, and body-literate conversations this show will explore episode after episode.

This is more than an introduction — it's a mini-ritual. A breath. A moment to arrive before the work begins.

    In this episode:

    • A guided emotional check-in to open the space

    • Dr. Sondrina's personal journey into Traditional Chinese Medicine

    • Why representation matters in holistic and integrative health

    • A first look at what TCM is and why it matters for modern healing
