With many different aspects to the project including cultural heritage, education, health and wellbeing benefits and floodplain management, the overall purpose of the project is to help species to thrive again in increasingly difficult climates, with the focal species being the European Eel and the True Fox Sedge. • Sabrina River Folk Podcast Episode 13 - Sarah Chave and the wisdom of the River Severn/Hafren.
    Dec 8 2025

Oasis frontman, Noel Gallagher was travelling to his recording studio in Wales when his train got stuck in the Severn Railway Tunnel for four hours. Inspiration came to him, and he wrote the lyrics to their hit song Acquiesce whilst actually under the River Severn. The song speaks of needing each other, believing in each other and uncovering what is sleeping in our soul, almost like he was hearing the voice of Sabrina/Hafren herself.

Author Sarah Chave believes we all know this, something deep within us remembers we are all part of the natural world. In her book, Hafren, The Wisdom of the River Severn, she goes on a journey of discovery and invites us to join her.

    Oct 4 2025

In tonight's episode I'm joined by Lee Clatworthy from Tewkesbury. Lee dedicated his career to Gloucestershire Fire Service in the Water Rescue division, and after retirement went from full time fireman to full time pirate. Many of us now know him as the front man for pirate band Reivers Gallows and he tells us his story beginning with growing up near the River Severn. In a first for the podcast, we have included a couple of his songs! Enjoy and go and see them if you can!
