An area where her father lived and where she often spent time. Just before midnight, gunfire erupted on Mount Holly Street. Kayla was found shot and later pronounced deceased. More than six months later, no arrests have been made. No suspects have been publicly identified, and Kayla’s family is still searching for answers.

Despite multiple searches of the house, police found no trace of her. Nearly two years later, after the home was sold at auction, a cleanup crew made a discovery inside that shifted the case from a disappearance to something far more troubling. Police said they believed the remains found were Avis Anderson’s, but questions remain about when and how she may have returned home. As of the last available reports, investigators were still awaiting positive identification and autopsy results. Police have not publicly stated whether foul play is suspected.
