Corsica, home of lovely smells and chestnut-eating pigs, each battling it out for supremacy. It’s 1769 and in the capital of Ajaccio, a child of destiny is born…

A screaming sweetie that will reach heights higher than the island’s lofty mountain ranges and suffer lows far lower than its sublime sandy beaches. A child that will become renowned as one of the top-ten-military-leaders-EVER! as voted for by readers of Smash Hits. A child that rose from the ashes of l’revolution to rule not only French France but an entire Francy-French Empire of his own creation.

But there is another…

It’s time to find out the part that Derek played.

Wales, home of taking a leek. It’s 1928 and a plane has just plopped by that will make one of its passengers more famous than that kid from school who locked the teacher in the stationary cupboard that time.

What makes it even more amazing is that, both in the dentist’s chair and in the Abbey, the individual being crowned is not actually Elizabeth Tudor at all.

The life, times and tragic disappearance of Amelia Earhart are well documented, discussed, dramatised and made a mockery of by Star Trek: Voyager.

But even upon her famed solo flights, she was not truly alone.

It’s time to find out the part that Derek played.

Westminster, home of the government man! It’s Sunday 15th January 1559 and Elizabeth Tudor is getting a crown done. After that she’s popping down the Abbey to be made Queen. It’s going to be an amazing day.

What makes it even more amazing is that, both in the dentist’s chair and in the Abbey, the individual being crowned is not actually Elizabeth Tudor at all.

God save the Queen, because tourists are money, but our figurehead is not what she seems.

Nottingham, home of the forest.

It's 1190 and in the North of England, if you count Nottinghamshire as the North (which you shouldn’t because it’s in the East Midlands), a new form of protest movement begins – The Hoods…

But one Hood has been cruelly been overlooked by chroniclers, crinklers, balladeers and bell-ends. A Hood so great that he should be held in the highest esteem by his countrymen and have his own movie, TV show or, at very least, 15 minute podcast.

It’s time to find out the part that Derek played.

This is the History of Derek Hood.

The Netherlands, home of the drugs.

The life of Vincent Van Gogh is well documented. Anyone that has ever held a pencil, dabbled with watercolour or hacked off their own lughole in a delirium of misplaced romanticism, has heard his name.

But the tale of Vincent van Gogh is truly a tale of two tales, interwoven together to look like one tale, and then forgetting about the half of the tale that explains the main bit of the tale lest it upset someone who thinks they know all about art history and sh*t.

It’s time to find out the part that Derek played.
