  • Humanity Heals What Technology Cannot with Dr. Alan Cohen
    Aug 16 2026

In this heartfelt episode of the Good Grief Believer podcast, host Julie Craig welcomes renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Alan R. Cohen, along with medical students Hannah Duarte and Sarah Heath, for a meaningful conversation about grief, compassionate healthcare, hope, and the healing power of human connection.

Dr. Cohen, chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and author of Comfort Always: Healing in the Age of Technology, draws on more than four decades of experience caring for children and families facing some of life's most frightening moments. His message is simple but profound: technology can treat disease, but humanity heals the patient.

Good Grief Believer is a podcast, where I hope you’ll discover the power of belonging to a group, that not only comprehends the depth of your grief, but where you’ll find comfort in our collective wisdom.

Each week I’ll interview groups or individuals who have discovered what it means to grieve well, and how to help others along their own healing journey.

  • The 3 R's of Caring for People Who Grieve with Kelly Edmondson
    Jul 19 2026

What happens when the person who spent 25 years helping families through medical crises suddenly finds herself walking through the unimaginable?

In this episode of Good Grief Believer, Julie Craig welcomes Kelly Edmondson, trauma ICU nurse, nurse executive, certified grief counselor, and founder of Timely Presence.

Kelly shares the devastating story of losing her 28-year-old son, Darius, unexpectedly to a seizure while she and her husband were away. Although she had spent decades caring for grieving families, nothing could prepare her for becoming a grieving mother herself.

Together, Julie and Kelly explore the difference between shock and grief, why grief often begins long after everyone else has returned to normal life, and how the silence that follows loss can be one of the hardest parts of the journey.
