  • Extra! Extra!
    Jan 14 2026

Fog. Twilight. A near-empty movie theatre. This episode of FØDE starts as a dark, rainy drive through Vancouver Island and turns into a meditation on noticing—how cinema communicates through subtle choices, why obsession can be a form of devotion, and what happens when you finally stop apologizing for being extra. After watching Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair in theatres, I found myself sitting in the dark for four and a half hours, taking handwritten notes on cinematography, visual storytelling, restraint, and intention. Not as a critic—but as a maker paying attention. We talk about:Why fog, darkness, and twilight feel so cinematicWhat Kill Bill teaches about visual language and creative choicesTaking obsessive notes as a creative practiceBeing “extra” on purpose (shoes embroidered, face on merch, no shame)Letting go of the tightrope walk of other people’s expectationsThis isn’t a film review. It’s a reflection on creativity, authorship, and giving yourself permission to lean all the way in.If you’ve ever been told to dial it down—this one’s for you.

  • Do Your Homework Ep.6
    Jan 7 2026

In this episode, I talk about self-worth, boundaries, and why you can’t do other people’s inner work for them. The core idea is simple: everyone has their own homework.Healing, shadow work, growth—none of it can be outsourced. I’m not here to help anyone cheat on the test, and I’m not interested in getting between people and their suffering. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is step back and let the lesson land. This is an unrehearsed, stream-of-consciousness drive about creativity, expansion vs. contraction, leaving victimhood behind, and learning to trust that even the uncomfortable stuff might be happening for us.https://www.instagram.com/fode.podcast#healingjourney #fødepodcast #queerpodcast #selfhealingcommunity

  • Heated Rivalry Ep.5
    Jan 5 2026

I start this episode talking about Heated Rivalry and end up talking about craft, storytelling, and that feeling of finally finding people who notice the same details you do.This isn’t really a review. It’s me thinking out loud about why certain stories work — the cinematography, the transitions, the restraint, the way flashbacks can feel smooth instead of jarring when they’re done right. I talk about inspiration, about watching people care deeply about nuance, and about how unexpected communities (including a hockey podcast, of all things) can make you feel less alone in your obsessions. This episode wanders on purpose. It’s unedited, unscripted, and very much mid-process.FØDE is a place to think in real time. Thanks for being here.Danni James 🎧📚 | Booktokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@dannijames.readsEmpty Netters Podcasthttps://www.youtube.com/@emptynetterspod#heatedrivalry #podcast #storytelling

  • Trust Yo GUTT Ep.4
    Dec 24 2025

In this episode, I talk about learning (the hard way) what it actually means to trust your gut — not as a slogan, but as a lived practice.I reflect on hospitalization, self-betrayal, and the lifelong habit of looking outside myself for permission instead of listening to my body. I explore the difference between symptoms and signals, how rest can be an act of trust, and how the body often knows long before the mind catches up.This episode is intentionally unpolished. The good, the bad, the awkward, the mistakes — all of it stays in. This is a real-time document of learning, not a performance of certainty. If something here resonates, take it with you.If it doesn’t, leave it behind.—FØDE (Falling on Deaf Ears) is a long-form, in-the-car audio journal about meaning-making, creative process, embodiment, and paying attention.

  • Kismet Ep.3
    Dec 17 2025

Have you ever felt like something found *you* instead of the other way around? That's how I feel about the name of this podcast FØDE (Falling on Deaf Ears). Emotional. Strange. Deeply affirming. That's just how I talk to myself in the car. Synchronicities, Kismet or Fate, if you seek it, it will seek you; our bodies aren't always ready for full alignment. A meditation on meaning-making, in this episode I navigate: creative doubt, signs, spiritual downloads, the art of paying attention, acronyms, and repeating numbers

  • Arc of Betrayal Ep.1
    Dec 3 2025

Sometimes we just gotta say things, that's what Falling on Deaf Ears (FØDE) is about; the 'Real Talks' we have with ourselves, when no-one is listening and our words can safely escape with our exhales.Originally this Podcast was to be called 'Voi Liminal,' by episode 3 it evolved to FØDE. A lot of 'becoming' happens in those in-between moments, between here and there, like the hallway between spaces. FØDE is birthing right from this first episode, it takes its inaugural breaths in the liminal space between my daily streaming and the early days of building the biographical YouTube series SOI VOI.Episode 1 is as 'soft-launch' as a soft-launch could be.A road.A GoPro MAX suction-cupped to the outside of the window.A theme: The Arc of Betrayal. What stories have I been telling myself about betrayal? actually.I have feelings and emotions about:- the process of healing- why SOI VOI is taking sooooo long- resistance and suffering, even around a simple task like making a doctor's appointment- the woes of my creative process- and why this Prius is become my little confessional booth FØDE drops every Wednesday at noon (PST) -- a weekly podcast confessional of the behind the scenes of building the SOI VOI YouTube series and processing my life in real time!If you're not afraid of vulnerability and occasional tears, I triple dare you to subscribe, and on Wednesdays join me in the comments during the premieres. Thanks for being here! No, like actually--Thanks!
