What is endometriosis actually like to live with, and why must women navigate so much alone? I'm Katrina Simpson: former strategy and transformation leader of a £250m portfolio, founder of a 100+ member workplace endometriosis forum, and a Women in Tech Excellence Awards finalist. My advocacy has been recognised in UK Parliament. Now I connect and advise endometriosis organisations internationally. Drawing on lived experience of now stage 3–4 endometriosis, I explore the science, treatment and hidden costs of chronic illness - with evidence, candour and occasional humour. • Painful Periods, Body Literacy and Everything We Weren't Taught at 16
    Oct 28 2026

What if the problem isn't that we don't listen to our bodies, but that nobody ever taught us what to listen for?

At 16, I knew the basics of menstruation. What I didn't understand was how my hormones, energy, mood and physical symptoms could change — or how to recognise when something wasn't quite right.

In this episode of Endometriosis, Actually, I explore what I wish I'd known about my body growing up: the difference between common and normal, why painful periods are so easily dismissed, the psychology of trusting our bodies, and how tracking symptoms can be both empowering and overwhelming.

I also ask why, despite progress in menstrual health education, we're still struggling to establish whether young people are actually getting the information they need.

Because understanding our bodies shouldn't be something we have to spend years figuring out for ourselves.

    We can do better.

  • I Didn't Know I Had Endometriosis. Here's How I Found Out.
    Oct 25 2026

How do you live with endometriosis without knowing you have it?

In the first episode of Endometriosis, Actually, I share my journey from years of unexplained symptoms to finally receiving a diagnosis. I reflect on what I overlooked, what I wish I'd known sooner, and why my experience has left me with so many questions about endometriosis and women's healthcare.

This is where my story begins - and why I've decided to start asking questions.
