ABOUT THIS MESSAGE:
Jesus is the conquering King who has defeated our enemies and brought us the gift of salvation. And just as the conquering king of a war takes the spoils of the war and distributes them to his people, so our conquering King who rules over all things gives gifts. The purpose is to equip his people for works of service for the betterment of his Church, that we may be unified in faith, become mature Christians, arriving at the measure of the fullness of Christ, to leave behind infanthood as God’s people, and stand firm in the face of the deceptive lies of the world. It takes all of us, gathered around the truth, speaking the truth in love, and finding strength in the truth which binds us together in unity with our Conquering King.

The Church is the body of Christ, and within the body each believer is placed uniquely and intentionally by God for the mutual benefit of the whole. When one part of the body suffers, so does the rest of the body. When one part of the body is honored, each part rejoices alongside. But what great reason we have to rejoice as we are part of Christ’s body, our Savior who has triumphed for his Church! Christ brings unity and diversity to his body, proving to us that we are “better together” because we have the privilege to support each other knowing that the head of the body – Christ – will never abandon us because he has won us for himself.

ABOUT THIS MESSAGE:
Today we celebrate the festival of Epiphany. It is the second oldest festival celebrated by the church, dating back to the second century. Epiphany means “revealed.” So, in the season of Epiphany we learn how it is that God reveals himself to us. The infant King begins to draw all nations to himself and reveal the mystery that had been hidden – all people would be heirs of salvation through faith in him. God unveiled the mystery that salvation came through Israel for all nations, and the Magi were the first in a long line of Gentiles who would join Israel in worshiping Jesus as King. You and I, too, follow that long line of Gentiles who now worship the King.
