Eddie Howe has established himself as one of the Premier League's most respected managers, but would appointing him at Manchester United be another enormous mistake?

With Michael Carrick under increasing pressure and INEOS facing serious questions about their ability to identify the right managerial successor, Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is the type of candidate who could enter the conversation at Old Trafford.

But I'm not convinced he'd succeed.

In this video, I'm breaking down why Eddie Howe could struggle as Manchester United manager, the fundamental differences between Newcastle United and Manchester United, and why another seemingly sensible appointment could ultimately end in failure.

Howe deserves enormous credit for his work at Newcastle. His coaching, player development and ability to establish a competitive team identity have helped transform the club's fortunes. But succeeding at Newcastle and rebuilding Manchester United are two very different challenges.

The expectations, scrutiny, dressing-room dynamics and political pressures at Old Trafford create an environment that has overwhelmed several talented managers before him.

And that's before we consider the problems above the dugout.

Jason Wilcox, Omar Berrada and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are attempting to establish a coherent footballing structure, yet Manchester United continue to struggle with recruitment, squad planning and managerial decision-making.

Would Eddie Howe receive the authority and support necessary to implement his ideas? Could his tactical approach work with United's current squad? And would he be capable of managing the enormous expectations surrounding a club that demands both attractive football and immediate results?

There's also the question of whether Howe represents the ambition Manchester United should be demonstrating when appointing their next manager.

After previous appointments failed to deliver sustainable success, INEOS cannot afford to select another candidate simply because they're familiar with the Premier League or appear to be a safe option.

Manchester United need more than a competent coach. They need someone capable of establishing a clear identity, challenging the club's dysfunctional structures and restoring genuine standards throughout the football operation.

So would Eddie Howe be the right man to rebuild Manchester United, or would he simply become another talented manager consumed by the problems at Old Trafford?
