  • VisionQuest Episodes 5 and 6 Review
    Oct 31 2026
All three Defenders are back discussing this weeks drop of VisionQuest Episodes 5 Firewall and 6 Deadlock. Make sure you have seen both episodes before you listen along to our spoiler filled chat about them. VisionQuest Episode 5 and Episode 6 Synopsis Vision Character Created by Roy Thomas and artist John Buscema Creator and Showrunner: Terry Matalas Episode 5 and 6 Directed by: Vincenzo Natali Episode 5 Written by: Christopher Monfette Episode 6 Written by: Nicole Falsetti Episode 5 Firewall Synopsis Firewall Synopsis Trapped in Ultron's attic within the Mindspace, Vision and the other AIs attempt to track Ultron. They find recordings showing Ultron talking with Tommy at a pub before allowing the Paladin to kidnap him, as well as a memory cache revealing that Ultron had leaked Vision's location to Paladin. They also discover that Ultron scanned Caterina Wells' face before Jocasta vaporized her, giving him possession of the final biomarker. Jocasta offers to reveal what the biomarkers unlock if Ultron gives the biomarker to her. Meanwhile back in the Mindspace's attic the AIs realize that lowering the firewall in their code is the only way for Vision to regain control of his body to rescue Tommy, though doing so also grants Ultron access to the digital world. Ultron meets Vision in the attic and gives him a choice - to keep him and them locked up or lower the firewall and save Tommy. Vision lowers the firewall that allows Vision to regain control while Ultron escapes the Mindspace, but with F.R.I.D.A.Y. in pursuit. Vision awakens alongside Lisa aboard a plane headed to Madripoor. Episode 6 Deadlock Synopsis Paladin brings Tommy to Madripoor to blackmail Vision and Lisa into surrendering, but they are interrupted when Ten Rings soldiers, led by Raza al-Wazar on behalf of the Client, attack them. Tommy and Lisa hijack Paladin's van with help from E.D.I.T.H. and assist Vision, while Paladin subdues Raza. Elsewhere, in her own Mindspace, Jocasta reveals to Ultron that the biomarkers unlock the nest, a vault of nanobots she created as Joe Carrington. Jacosta plans to deploy the nanobots to make humans more machine-like and to control their minds. F.R.I.D.A.Y., who followed Ultron into the Mindspace and disguised herself as an ordinary robot, alerts E.D.I.T.H. to the dangers of the nanobots, but Jocasta manages to infect Lisa with a prototype nanobot. Tommy uses his powers to deactivate it, saving Lisa but as they flee Madripoor, with an unconscious Lisa, Vision tells Tommy the truth about the WandaVision sitcom and his memories. Back in Jocasta's Mindspace, Ultron and Jocasta's relationship develops further as they embrace each other and share a kiss. Derek and John are back this week to discuss VisionQuest Episodes 7 Immolation the penultimate episode of the season. Make sure you have watched it before you listen as we spoil all the big reveals and twists of the episode. VisionQuest Episode 7 Immolation Synopsis Vision Character Created by Roy Thomas and artist John Buscema Creator and Showrunner: Terry Matalas Episode 7 Directed by: Terry Matalas Episode 7 Written by: Matthew Okumura In 1939, Phineas Horton creates J.I.M. to cope with the death of his son James. His focus on the creation of this alternate synthetic being alienates his wife and daughter. After Phineas sells their home to fund his obsession his estranged wife and his daughter leave him and emigrate to New York. His daughter takes Phineas' scientific notepad with her. In the present, Jocasta uses the collected bio-keys to unlock the nest which stores her nanobots. But a sixth key is required to unlock the cradle that she was unaware of. Using the keys sets off a chain reaction that brings The Client to both her and Vision. The Client offers to help Jocasta learn about her past and restore her missing memories, while he also offers Vision access to his subconsciousness to find his source code. He promises this code will fix Lisa and make Vision complete by allowing him to feel. In return Vision will surrender himself to The Client or face destruction. Requiring a significant energy supply, Vision enters his subconscious with help from the Paladin and a familiar weapon once wielded by Corvus Glaive. In his sub-processors Vision encounters manifestations of Ultron, the original Vision, J.I.M., and Horton. Speaking with J.I.M vision is forced to confront the reality that the memories he has are his own and he accepts that he Tommy as his son. J.I.M. provides Vision with Horton's original code, allowing him to neutralise the nanobot controlling Lisa. Meanwhile, Ultron and F.R.I.D.A.Y. follow Jocasta into her memories, where she finds that as Joe Carrington, she had a partner who resembled Ultron's human avatar. The Client, Carrington's partner, captures Jocasta as Ultron throws F.R.I.D.A.Y. off a balcony in Jocasta's mind palace As Vision must now surrender himself to the Client, he leaves Tommy and Lisa asleep after they fly to London from Madripoor. Vision leaves Tommy a message and all episodes of WandaVision acknowledging him as his son and the loss of the rest of his family, Billy and Wanda. After Vision is delivered to The Client by Paladin at a manor house resembling Phineas Horton's estate, the Client's men blow up the Paladin in his murder van as he leaves and the shadowy Client and owner of the estate with shot gun in hand is revealed to be Ultron's human avatar. • VisionQuest Episodes 3 and 4 Review
    Oct 23 2026
Derek and Chris, return to chat about this week drop of VisionQuest Episodes 3 and 4 Reboot and Malware. Make sure you have seen both episodes before you listen along to our spoiler filled chat about them. VisionQuest Episode 3 Reboot and Episode 4 Malware Synopsis Vision Character Created by Roy Thomas and artist John Buscema Creator and Showrunner: Terry Matalas Episode 3 and 4 Directed by: Gandja Monteiro Episode 3 Written by: Cindy Appel Episode 4 Written by: Michael Taylor Episode 3 - "Reboot" Vision and Tommy go on the run after their escape from the Paladin's attack. The Adamantium bullets used on Vision begin to shut down his body until he uses battery acid to halt his permanent death. Inside his neural network, the team of FRIDAY, U, DUM-E and EDITH realise they need to do a full Reboot to fully fix Vision. Meanwhile Ultron discovers that a serial killer called Butcherbird is leaving etched wings at the crime scene of their victims. When Paladin accidentally tracks the killer down he reveals it's an android on a murder mission. After he escapes, Paladin's client cancels their contract with him. While hiding out in a hotel, Vision convinces Tommy to overcome his fear of water and use his speed powers to restart Vision's broken body. But the reboot attracts the robots attention and the "Butcherbird" begins attacking VISION's mind space. In Episode 4 - "Malware" The Butcherbird Killer possesses Vision and threatens to harm Tommy if he interferes in her plan, but E.D.I.T.H. manages to expel the invading programme from his mainframe. Vision, Tommy, and the AIs investigate the killer and discover that her victims were all board members of Markridge Biotech, whose founders developed the first stable synthetic consciousness, the precursor to their Artificial Intelligence. The Butcherbird Killer has collected biomarkers from her victims including blood, fingerprints and an eyeball. The only surviving founder of the company is Katerina Wells. With Lisa's help, Vision and Tommy infiltrate a gala hosted by Katerina Wells, where Vision tells Tommy about the ancient prototype J.I.M., an unstable synthetic man whose emotions caused him to combust. Tommy realises Vision has kept Ultron's existence secret and storms away from the party. The Butcherbird Killer attacks the gala and reveals herself as Jocasta, a synthezoid based on Markridge co-founder Dr. Josephine "Jo" Carrington. Unable to defeat her, Vision allows Ultron to take control. But Ultron manipulates Jocasta into killing Katerina Wells, preventing the synthezoid from obtaining the final biomarker. Ultron then betrays Vision and locks him and the other AIs out of their systems, and leaves the gala with Tommy in tow.
