Fitness as capacity for life
Fitness is often described through measurable qualities: strength, endurance, mobility, power, agility, balance, speed, and body composition. FLO respects these qualities, but asks a further question: how do these qualities serve life? A stronger person who cannot move without fear may still feel limited. A person with high endurance but poor movement options may still struggle outside a predictable environment.
Functional Life Optimisation reframes fitness as the development of physical capacity that supports daily life, ageing, recreation, work, and sport. The gym is not the final destination; it is a training environment. The real measure is whether the person gains more usable options in life.
