  • What Do You Really Value? with Joel Yoon
    Oct 28 2026

We all have things we say we value: faith, grace, honesty, hospitality, community. But do the cultures we create actually reflect those values?

Kendra and Kyler are joined by Pastor Joel Yoon to explore the relationship between culture, values, and habits—and what our everyday behaviors reveal about what matters most to us.

    Together, they discuss:

    • Why culture can be understood as the “common sense” assumptions and behaviors we rarely stop to notice

    • How our cultural context shapes us in ways we may not recognize

    • The relationship between our values, our habits, and the cultures we create

    • The difference between our aspirational values and the values we functionally live by

    • Why moments of stress often expose what we really value

    • How our habits can contradict the things we say we believe

    • Why simply trying harder to live up to our ideals isn’t enough

    • What Jacob’s wrestling with God reveals about confession, identity, and transformation

    • Why repentance should be a defining practice of Christian families and communities

    • How parents communicate their values through what they celebrate, prioritize, ask about, and make time for

    • Why our children—and the people closest to us—often recognize the gap between our stated and lived values

    • How practices and habits can intentionally reinforce the cultures we hope to cultivate

    • Why creating a culture of vulnerability, hospitality, or spiritual depth begins with practicing those things ourselves

    • How cultures shaped by the gospel can bear witness to Christ

The gap between what we say we value and how we actually live can be uncomfortable to confront. But for Christians, recognizing that gap doesn’t have to lead to shame or frantic self-improvement.

Instead, it can lead us back to Christ. We can honestly confess who we are, receive His grace again, and ask Him to reshape our hearts so that our habits increasingly reflect what we say we believe.

    Mentioned on the Show

Next Step: Take an honest inventory of the culture you’re helping create in your family, friendships, community group, or another important relationship.

Start by identifying something you say you value—grace, hospitality, vulnerability, faith, generosity, community, or something else—and then look at your actual practices.

    Ask:

    • What do my habits suggest that I really value?

    • What do I consistently celebrate, prioritize, or make time for?

    • Where is there a gap between my aspirational values and my functional values?

    • What might I need to confess rather than simply try harder to fix?

    • What is one practice I could start—and what might I need to stop—to cultivate the kind of culture I want to create?

Invite someone close to you into the conversation. Ask what they experience from you, and be willing to receive what they see as an opportunity for repentance, grace, and growth.

  • Share Your Faith Without Making It Weird with Sam Collins & Sea Choi
    Oct 21 2026

Most Christians know we're called to share the gospel. But knowing that doesn't necessarily make it easy.

What if I don't know what to say? What if someone asks a question I can't answer? What if I make things awkward—or worse, push someone away?

In this episode, Kyler is joined by Campus Outreach staff Sam Collins and Sea Choi to explore how ordinary Christians can grow in confidence and faithfulness as they share Jesus with the people God has placed in their lives.

Drawing on their experiences in college ministry (including some memorable evangelism failures), they discuss:

    • Why evangelism and discipleship belong together

    • How Jesus' compassion for the crowds should shape our motivation for sharing the gospel

    • Why fear, lack of experience, and uncertainty can keep us from having spiritual conversations

    • What we can learn from evangelism attempts that go badly

    • Why sharing the gospel isn't simply about delivering a presentation or getting someone to make a decision

    • How to define small, faithful next steps without measuring success by someone else's response

    • Why the people God has placed in our workplaces, neighborhoods, and everyday routines are opportunities for gospel witness

    • What it looks like to share our faith as part of a community rather than on our own

    • How Christian friendship, hospitality, and love for one another can bear witness to the gospel

    • Practical ways to move conversations from external circumstances to internal experiences and eternal questions

    • Why asking thoughtful questions, listening well, and sharing our own stories matter

    • How to recognize that God may already be at work in someone's spiritual journey

    • Why we can take risks, learn from our mistakes, and trust God with the results

Evangelism doesn't have to be an intimidating, isolated activity reserved for the most outgoing or spiritually mature Christians. It's part of what it means to follow Jesus—to see the people around us with His compassion, build genuine relationships, and learn to speak naturally about the hope we have in Him.

And because God is the one who brings spiritual growth, we're free to take faithful risks without carrying the burden of someone else's response.

Evangelism doesn't have to be an intimidating, isolated activity reserved for the most outgoing or spiritually mature Christians. It's part of what it means to follow Jesus—to see the people around us with His compassion, build genuine relationships, and learn to speak naturally about the hope we have in Him.

A Practical Tool: External → Internal → Eternal

One framework Sam and Sea share for cultivating deeper conversations is to move gradually through three levels:

    • External: Start with what's happening in someone's life—their work, family, interests, or circumstances.

    • Internal: Ask about their experiences, feelings, desires, or how those circumstances are affecting them.

    • Eternal: As the relationship and conversation allow, explore deeper questions about meaning, purpose, faith, and what they believe about God.

The goal isn't to force every conversation toward a gospel presentation, but to grow in the ability to listen, love, and engage others with genuine spiritual curiosity.

  • Can You Really Know You're Saved?
    Oct 14 2026

When did you become a Christian? For some, the answer is a specific moment of conversion. For others, the story is more complicated. And even after coming to faith, many Christians find themselves wondering: If I'm really saved, why do I still struggle with sin? Am I growing enough? How can I know that God won't give up on me?

In this episode, Kendra and Kyler share their own stories of coming to faith and explore how the theology of salvation speaks to some of our most personal questions about the Christian life.

    Together, they discuss:

    • Why our testimonies don't need to be dramatic to be powerful

    • How God works through both defining moments and ordinary experiences to draw us to Himself

    • What theologians mean by the ordo salutis (order of salvation)

    • How Romans 8 reveals God's work in salvation from beginning to end

    • What regeneration, justification, adoption, sanctification, and glorification mean for believers

    • Why understanding justification frees us from trying to earn God's approval

    • How to understand Paul's command to "work out your salvation" when salvation is entirely God's work

    • Why sanctification is often a messy, lifelong process

    • What to do when persistent sin or a lack of visible growth makes us question our salvation

    • How spiritual disciplines and the ordinary means of grace help cultivate assurance

    • Why God's promise to finish what He started gives us humility, confidence, freedom to pursue obedience, and hope

Salvation isn't simply something that happened in the past. It's something God has accomplished in Christ, is working out in us by His Spirit, and promises to bring to completion.

Understanding that changes everything. We don't have to look to our performance to prove that we belong to Christ. We can look to His finished work, trusting that the God who called us to Himself will never abandon the work of His hands.

    Mentioned on the Show

Next Step: Take some time this week to reflect on your own story of salvation. Whether you can identify a specific moment when you came to faith or your story has unfolded more gradually, consider:

    • Looking back: Where can you see evidence of God's grace in drawing you to Himself? How does understanding salvation as God's work reshape the way you tell your story?

    • Looking at the present: Where are you tempted to measure your standing with God by your performance or spiritual progress? How might the distinction between justification and sanctification change the way you respond to your struggles?

    • Looking forward: What would it look like to trust God's promise to complete the work He has begun in you?

Consider sharing your reflections with a friend. Practice telling your testimony in a way that highlights not just what has changed in your life, but what God has done—and continues to do—through Christ.
