Futsal in Australia #34

With Guest:

- Alexia Karrys-Stahl – Womens National Futsal Team, UTS (NSW) & Fitzroy (VIC) Futsal Player

In this episode of the Caro Futsal Podcast, we sit down with Alexia Karrys-Stahl — one of the key players from the Australian Women’s National Futsal Team.

From growing up in Canberra to becoming a national team player, Alexia shares her journey into futsal, her move to NSW, and how playing for UTS has shaped her development. We dive into why NSW continues to produce so many top players and dominate national competitions.

We also break down the full national team journey — from going undefeated in the AFC qualifiers, to the challenges faced at the AFC Asian Cup, and the incredible turnaround at the ASEAN Championships where Australia made history finishing runners-up.

Alexia gives real insight into:

• What it’s like representing Australia
• The gap between Australia and top futsal nations
• The importance of more competitions and pathways
• Balancing football and futsal at a high level
• The growth of women’s futsal in Australia

We also talk about her experience flying weekly to Melbourne to play in the Women’s Series, the level across different states, and what needs to happen for Australia to compete consistently on the world stage.

A really honest and insightful conversation about where women’s futsal is right now — and where it’s heading.
