For more than three decades, Beatles fans visiting Liverpool have made the same pilgrimage down to the Albert Dock to visit The Beatles Story museum. Now that’s about to change in a big way. Apple Corps, the company the Beatles founded in 1968, has announced that the attraction is moving to the heart of the city and getting a massive upgrade in the process.

The official slogan for the project says it all: “We’re on our way home.” It’s a nod to “Two of Us,” and it signals that this is more than just a change of address. For the first time, the Beatles’ own company will run a fan experience in the city where it all began.

Bigger, Bolder and Right by the Station

The new Beatles Story will open in 2028 at the former St Johns Market in St Johns Shopping Centre, directly across from Lime Street station. That means fans stepping off the train will practically walk straight into Beatles history.

The new site covers 100,000 square feet, which will more than quadruple the attraction’s current footprint. Apple Corps describes it as a “multi-hour experience,” using immersive technology, original artifacts and reconstructed sets.

Picture a physicist hunched over a paper on subatomic particle collisions, or a dentist writing up a clinical study on periodontal disease. Neither seems to have an obvious connection to the Beatles—or do they? A new study published in PLOS ONE reveals they have something striking in common: when it is time to name their research, an extraordinary number of scientists reach for a Fab Four lyric.

The researchers discovered that at least 3,200 peer-reviewed papers quote or pun on a Beatles song title or lyric across disciplines ranging from aerospace engineering to molecular genetics. The group from Liverpool isn’t just the soundtrack to our cultural history—they have quietly become the house band of the scientific method.

  • New Beatles Poll Snubs Paul’s Grammy
    Oct 17 2026

In the spring of 1967, the recording industry crowned Paul McCartney’s "Michelle" with the Grammy for “Song of the Year.” To critics and traditionalists, the delicate, French-inflected ballad was the creative peak of Rubber Soul. It was an instant pop standard, widely covered by easy-listening crooners and celebrated as the record's most refined moment.

This week, the official Beatles website invited tens of thousands of fans to vote for their favorite track on Rubber Soul. The verdict was not merely a surprise; it was an ear-scratcher.

“Michelle” didn’t just lose. It was banished to the bottom of the LP’s barrel, scraping together just 4% of the vote—deadlocked with the smoky, cynical sigh of “Girl” and soundly beaten by deeper, rougher album cuts like “I’m Looking Through You” (6%) and “You Won’t See Me” (5%).

The winner, claiming a landslide 31% of the total tally, was “In My Life.”
