Your customers are satisfied. But your business isn't growing. That gap — between the quality you're delivering and the growth that should be following it — is what this show is about. Attract Raving Fans is built on the Raving Fans Framework, for small business owners who want to turn satisfied customers into raving fans. Each episode delivers one Practical Idea and one Small Action you can complete this week. Want to know where your business stands first? • Your Elevator Pitch Is Costing You Referrals
    Aug 11 2026

Most elevator pitches are really just job descriptions — and a job description gives nobody a reason to refer you. In this episode, Alan tells the story of Brian, a financial advisor who said the same thing at networking events for years and watched people's eyes glaze over — until he changed one thing and walked out of a single evening with three referrals. You'll get the simple pitch formula that turns "what you do" into a portrait of *who you help*, the one tell that shows it's working (watch their eyes), and how to build it from the exact words your customers already gave you.

This week's Small Action: Rewrite your elevator pitch using the formula — "I help [who] do or get [what], so they can [feel, have, or become what]" — filling that last piece with the customer words you pulled in last week's Language Audit. Then say it to one real person this week, watch their face, and ask, "Does that make you think of anyone?" Their answer tells you whether it's sharp enough. One rewrite, one test. Drop that into your Fan Plan — the plan every FanMaker builds, one small action at a time.

  • See Your Work Through the Eyes of the People It Helps
    Aug 4 2026

Your customers have already written your best marketing copy — it's sitting in your reviews, your thank-you texts, and the emails you smiled at and forgot.

In this episode, Alan shares the story of Daniel, a massage therapist who spread twelve years of client reviews across his table and found the same words repeating — then put them, unedited, at the top of his homepage.

You'll learn the Language Audit: where to look, what to listen for (the Three Languages — Before/After, Identity, and Story), and why using your customers' exact words beats anything you could write from scratch.

This week's Small Action: Pull your last ten reviews, testimonials, or pieces of client feedback into one place and read them in one sitting, listening for the Three Languages — Before/After, Identity, and Story. Find the one phrase that's truest about what you do, and add it — word for word — to your most visible marketing. One phrase, this week. Your Fan Plan — the plan every FanMaker builds, one small action at a time — gets one piece stronger.

  • Are You Selling the Work — or the Change
    Jul 27 2026

Two landscapers, same town, same skill — one's booked three months out, the other's chasing leads. The only real difference is the words on the homepage. In this episode, Alan shows you how to stop describing what you do and start describing what changes for your customer, using Before, After, Bridge — a simple three-part structure that turns a list of services into a message your customer hears themselves in. You'll see where to find the raw material (it's in the words your customers have already given you) and walk away ready to rewrite one piece of your marketing this week.

**This week's Small Action:** Take one piece of your marketing — your homepage headline, your LinkedIn bio, or the first line of a proposal — and rewrite it using Before, After, Bridge. Write the feeling your customer had before they found you, the feeling they have now, and one honest sentence connecting the two. Use the actual words a customer has used with you. One piece only. One more piece of the Fan Plan you're building — the plan every FanMaker builds, one small action at a time.
