Doherty started on the 1982 National Championship team and boasts over 1,000 points, 400 rebounds and 400 assists in his college career. Doherty went on to coach at his alma mater and has recently written a book on leadership.

    This episode of ACC Stars: Where Are They Now? features former NC State guard Dereck Whitttenburg. Whittenburg played a major role on the 1983 National Championship team — averaging nearly 16 points per game his senior season. After a brief professional career, Whittenburg pursued coaching and is now back at his alma mater as an Associate AD for Community Relations and Student Support.
