Hosted by a tall girl named India, A Tall Girl’s Podcast is a podcast dedicated to helping (t)all girlies feel comfortable in their own skin and live their best lives. Growing up tall has taught me a thing or two (or maybe three) about embracing my individuality and finding the good things in what’s seemingly bad. And I’m here to spill the beans!

    As tall folks, we’re often told that we’re lucky to be tall.

    “You’re so lucky to be tall.”

    “You should be grateful for your height.”

    “I would do or give anything to be as tall as you.”

    And listen, I get it, okay. There are so many amazing things that come with being tall, like having a commanding presence, seeing over crowds, maybe even having a higher earning potential. Apparently, we may be smarter, and the list goes on and on.

    However, as with anything, there are also disadvantages. Some are so bad that they may negatively affect our health, safety, and the way we view ourselves and our bodies. And sometimes we take these experiences to the Internet, sharing them in hopes of finding some sort of solidarity. And sometimes, we’re met with the opposite, saying that we should stop complaining, what we’re saying is dumb, or just straight up saying it’s not that serious.

    In today’s episode, we’re gonna talk about this, why this happens, and how some of this comes from other tall women. Tune in for more!

    Finding quality clothing as a tall woman has always been a struggle.

    Yes, there are a lot more options than there were about 10, 15, 20 years ago.

    Big retailers are finally offering “tall sizes”, which was great to see, only to find out that tall to them isn’t the same as tall to us. Apparently, catering to the 5’7”, 5’8” girlies is enough, and the girlies taller than that just don’t exist. Additionally, proportions are weird; the hip and waist areas don’t fit well, and we have the TikTok Shop ‘tall girl friendly’ scams.

    So there are all these options, and yet it still feels like there’s quite literally no options for us. But that’s not entirely true. There are options for us that are good quality and long enough.

    You just have to open up your wallet and spend hundreds of dollars ://////

    Growing up, many tall girlies feel insecure about their height.

    Whether we were bullied in middle school for it, or we just feel out of place around our peers, or we have a difficult time finding clothes that fit us well.

    And while yes, there are people out there who definitely further these insecurities, there are also people who try to make us feel better about our height. When we voice our frustrations, they’ll say things like:

    “Stop complaining. You’re so lucky to be tall.”

    “At least you’re skinny.”

    Or even the classic: “Well, models are tall.”

    And we all know what body type they’re talking about when comparing us to models.

    So that brings up the question: Is being tall as a woman only acceptable when you’re thin?
