Modern science and ancient wisdom agree - everything is in a state of vibration. Pioneering sound healer Jonathan Goldman brings these two traditions together on Vocal Toning the Chakras, teaching listeners to harness the power of their own voices - and to bring each chakra humming to life, resonating and aligning these energy centers for health, wellness, and higher consciousness. Since founding the Sound Healers Association in 1982, Jonathan Goldman reaches thousands of people every year through his books, recordings, and seminars presented all over the world. On Vocal Toning the Chakras, he brings decades of research and experience to the task of balancing the seven energy centers of the body. Each chakra impacts a different facet of overall health - when these centers are properly tuned, listeners will experience improved circulation, respiration, digestion, and state of mind. With Vocal Toning the Chakras, listeners will learn how to attune their minds to get the most out of these time-tested acoustic practices. For as Jonathan Goldman teaches: When the right vibrations are matched with the right intent, there is no limit to the healing power of sound.

I love this!

Goldman gives some background but overall only gives the most relevant information to get started on your own personal vocal toning practice.

Years ago when I first heard about the chakras the information seemed elusive, a bit overwhelming, foreign, and intimidating. I know more and I’m more comfortable now but I appreciate Goldman’s simple approach that actually gets you excited about making this a daily routine right away. There’s a lot more information about the chakras that’s not presented here but for me that’s the beauty of it. You can learn more later on your own with more encyclopedic volumes but this gets you started, feeling very comfortable, and singing the vocal toning routines right away.

And he emphasizes that its about intent and not about being a professional singer or what someone else’s opinion is about what you sound like. Goldman sings himself on the tracks and hearing him also dispels any fears and gets you wanting to jump in right away! This is far easier than I though it was and Goldman also gives several variations to fit your needs.

I completely recommend this to anyone who wants to start. You can also sing along to the tracks here or do the singing (or rather you’re “toning” not really “singing”) completely on your own. After listening to this I think you’ll be comfortable with both ways.

Worth taking the time to instill in 1's lifestyle

Concise and straight to the point. Very quick introduction to sound as healing then the rest is up to you. Good book to initiate the path to internal placidity...

Just sing joyfully and your chakras join in.

What would have made Vocal Toning the Chakras better?

Original content. Less repetition of basics. More depth and finesse on aspects that truly ARE important in chakra toning.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I don't know just yet.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jonathan Goldman?

He should read his own material. However, I detect pretense in his very own voice, as if Jonathan is aware that he repackages ancient material.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Vocal Toning the Chakras?

Part 1 and 2 are too similar. The electronic background sound in part 1 is awful in combination with his own, not so good sounding.

Any additional comments?

I recommend listening and chanting with Swami Kriyananda, who, without pretense, places his voice exactly right, because by chanting he does channel the Highest. Everybody who listens to his chanting (of Mantras) hears this quality immediately. A wonderful tonal chakra awakening sequence is practiced at Ananda Village, accompanied with a gong. There I learned the real thing.
