Great Book...terrible narrator

What did you like best about The Seed? What did you like least?

I'm a big fan of Jon Gordon's work. The content of this book was great. However, the narrator was horrible. His intonation is soo annoying that I found this book very difficult to finish despite the great content.

Would you be willing to try another one of Erik Synnestvedt’s performances?

No

Any additional comments?

Jon Gordon is a talented author and narrator. I hope that in the future he sticks to narrating his own books.

A light yet insightful self questioning story

Funnily enough i wasnt expecting such a light hearted and follow through story. I have read many practical books on finding my purpose and this has been one of the most inspiring, allowing me to question myself in the process of a fable. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to explore where they are at, why they may be there and just enjoy the story of a life and the signs in the offering. This book does make you think about the part you play in the bigger picture, and ultimately the choices that are yours. This will be a book i go back too when i need a rejuvenating view of a life - which is the ultimate review of an audio book from my perspective.

Awful Speaker

The content is great but the voice disposition and method is quite annoying personally. You may like it, but it is fingers on a chalk board. I recommend listening to a sample. I bought the book and love it! Highly recommend the author.

Narrator voice inflections were distracting

I loved the story and the voice, however, the enunciation and emphasis on words at the ends of sentences were awkward and choppy.

Good parable—odd vocal mannerisms

This book works well in audio format but the narration was distracting throughout the entire book. Mr. Synnestvedt speaks normally until ending a sentence, then he drags out the last word with vocal fry, ending with a slightly higher pitch "ah" sound. I'm not sure what the intended effect is but I found it to be annoying. If I hadn't enjoyed the story I would not have finished listening.

Jon Gordon's work tends to be on the optimistic or lovey-dovey side but I genuinely enjoy it. This particular book helped to refine what I consider to be my purpose and that is pretty significant for me. I'm not so sure I would have found the material as useful 10 years ago. This book will be the most beneficial to a mature audience with an open mind. If you think that might be you, I recommend giving it a listen—It's quick and easy to take in.

Good message but muted by the narrator

I wanted to like the book more but I couldn’t completely commit due to the vocal quality of the narrator! His inflection and the way that he carried the ends of his words distracted me.

GREAT BOOK!

I loved the book and the message, but the narration was subpar. The narrator put no life into the message or the characters...

Terrible

I honestly don't get all the 4- and 5-star reviews. I started to read this book, which is required reading for a class, but I couldn't force myself to get through the first chapter. I thought maybe listening to it would make it easier to get through it and purchased the audio book. Nope. The story is hokey and written at a 3rd grade level. It's EXTREMELY preachy-Christian and I'm an atheist so I was uncomfortable reading/listening to it. At one point, the main character's father points out how creation of the earth and humanity is the only thing that makes sense. That's the point where I drew the line and stopped listening. It's something I'll definitely be mentioning in my class evaluation. And finally, the narrator is very annoying. I returned the audio book for a refund.
