    Wonderful-Wonderful-Wonderful.....

I listend to this book last night and it was wonderfully refreshing and tremendously helpful.
As a 20 year vertran of therapy, I can honestly say that this book has given me more hope and tools to work with than all my sessions combined.
Dr Luciani has written a winner in this book. His approach is straight forward, simple to understand and begin.
Buy this book and begin to feel better. It is that simple.

Thanks Dr. L for your wonderful book.

Amazing, a self-help book that really helps!!!

Finally someone has answered my prayers! For years I have been struggling, not knowing or believing that there was an answer. The Power of Self-Coaching taught me not only about the roots of my struggle, but more importantly what I could do to change. Dr. Luciani has a 5-step program he calls Self-Talk that walks you through each step. Step two, for example, Separating Fact from Fiction, blew me away! All my life, I have been treating fictions (worry, fears, doubts) as if they were facts. I cannot tell you how this simple distinction has opened my eyes! Step four, Letting Go, is another example. Just as he says, the key is to stop feeding your habits of insecurity (he calls these Reflexive Thoughts) by learning to starve them (wait till you hear about the pigeons, I do not want to spoil this for you). I could go on, but take it from me, I have begun to starve my habits of insecurity and have found that I am no longer a prisoner of my anxiety and worry. Far as I am concerned this will be the last self-help book I will ever need.

    This is GROUND BREAKING! Fantastic!

I could not believe a recent review of this audio suggesting that The Power of Self-Coaching is nothing more than a rant against traditional therapy. I have listened to these CDs twice (as has my wife) and I'm looking forward to listening again (and again). True, Dr. Luciani challenges traditional therapy's passive approach with its focus on ancient history (Self-Coaching isn't about asking "Why," it's about deciding what you're going to do about your problems). Sure, years of analysis can be a great and stimulating adventure, but when it comes to problem solving and honest-to-goodness change, Self-Coaching is the future. This is a pragmatic, five-step, cognitive program that has changed my life (my wife says "ditto"). Once you begin to recognize that the roots of struggle can be summed up in two words--habit and control--you'll find that layers of self-doubt, fear, and negativity just begin to peel away from your life. Self-Coaching makes perfect sense and more importantly, it really works! I wish I could rate this audio book more than five stars. It is the best I have ever listened to.

    DON'T WASTE YOUR CREDIT!!!!

I really wish it were possible to return this title. I bought this book as I was looking for some tools to help me motivate myself. Instead I had to listen to the author listen to the author bash traditional therapy for 40 min., then tell me things like "believe in yourself", "take chances". I felt like I was listening to Stuart Smiley's cousin from New York.
BTW I really took offence at the author's rant against traditional therapy. I fear that people who are truely in need of help but are afraid of walking into a therapists office will believe this guy. He's dangerous.

Have an opend mind when listening to this...

The narration is good, keeps your attention, not the same mono tone that doctors seem to have when talking. It will make you think, if your currently going to therapy, you may find offense to this, and perhaps take it personal. Like a previous reviewer wrote, he does kind of knock the classical idea of mental help. However, he is also a doctor himself, and walks his talk. He does tell his patients as well, they are expected to figure out there own problems, and he is not to be there mental crutch. Because ultimately, it is the patient that has to resolve the problem for good, not the doctor. The doctor is merely support and to help guide.

    terrible terrible terrible

I buy the concept of self-coaching, that's why I bought the book. 40 minutes into the program he is still trying to sell me the book. Irritating. He really likes himself, and spends a lot of time telling you how much everybody else likes him.

If he were to revise the book, it would be better if he cut the first bunch of positive subliminal suggestion that his book is the best thing that's ever happened to you and gets right to the self coaching nuts and bolts.

    Obviously, I was disappointed.

    Best money I've ever spent!

I've purchased both of Dr. Joe Luciani's books and can't give them enough praise. Now, as for the CD's, once again I think they're under priced(but don't change it, ha ha). How many people spend thousands of dollars a year to get council from a good therapist? I used to go to my Dr. just once a year so I could remember a few morsels of thought, but mostly to remember him and his motivation. Now I've got Dr. Joe in my car or home at any time. It's incredible. I absolutely love it! Dr. Joe Luciani has uncovered many valuable truths in this book. If you have insecurities or inner struggles of any kind, I dare say that this program will benefit you more than any other method you've tried.

steps are late in the book

The cover of the book says there will be five essential steps to self coaching presented. But these don't come until the end, after much stuff that didn't seem very useful or interesting. I think the steps should come earlier in the book. Also, he writes too much about himself.

    Proof that this book works!

I found this book at Dr. Joe?s website (www.self-coaching.net). I?ve always struggled with mild depression and anxiety and had come to the conclusion that this was my lot in life. At first I?ll admit it, I was skeptical. I thought for sure that Self-Coaching was just another you-can-do-it bit of motivational pabulum? Was I ever wrong! I?ll be the first to admit it, this book honestly changed the course of my sputtering life. Sure this book is inspirational and motivational--I expected as much. What I didn?t expect was the depth and psychological sophistication of the 5-step Self-Talk program. I?ve been to therapy and I have a pretty decent collection of self-help books, but nowhere have I ever been introduced to just how straight-forward and simple change can be. Everyone has an opinion, mine is more than an opinion, I have proof that Self-Coaching works. Ask my family.

    Great book

He breaks it down to 2 things, habit and control. I wish I had this book as a younger person, it would of save me from some of my mistakes. Listen to it many times to get the most out of it.
