A proposito di questo titolo
The Man Who Was Thursday: A Nightmare (1908) is G.K. Chesterton's celebrated philosophical thriller-novel. Gabriel Syme, a young poet recruited as a police detective, infiltrates the Central Anarchist Council — a secret society of seven members named after the days of the week, presided over by the mysterious giant Sunday. Nominated and elected as Thursday against the fiery anarchist Gregory, Syme soon discovers that his fellow "conspirators" — including the old Professor de Worms and the American Dr. Bull — are themselves disguised police detectives, and that the whole Council has been a mad, inverted game against its own shadow. A chase across London, a duel in France, a rising of the earth in anarchy, and a final masquerade-ball interrogation carry Chesterton's nightmare toward a breathtaking theological revelation: that the frightening and the good may be the same thing seen from behind. Witty, paradoxical and full of startling inversions, it is one of the most original "detective" novels ever written.
