Sintesi dell'editore

Though a series of steps, Dr. Odessky will propose a framework to overcome fear-driven thinking and help you break into your fear-wise life!

Stop Fear from Stopping You is about the fear that is so prevalent that it often lies dormant in the way of our dreams, career paths, and relationships. This fear creates stories that cushion us from potential pain and failure - at the cost of our self-esteem, success, growth, and personal happiness.

Because fear is complex, we cannot afford to merely be fearless. Just “letting go” is not the answer. The real solution lies in learning to become fear-wise. In this inspirational book, Dr. Odessky will show you how to harness the wisdom behind your fears and break through the barriers that block your success.

Stop Fear from Stopping You is the perfect gift for women and men struggling with fear. It is designed to help you:

  • Identify the fears that stand between you and your goals
  • Develop tools to overcome your fears
  • Develop a value-based plan to pursue your goals
  • Change your relationship with fear and learn to become fear-wise

Almost but completely not

There is a lot of good content here but the subtle liberal propaganda gets thicker and thicker throughout the book. Sure she hits some good topic, if you want points to be reinforced by quotes of Hillary Clinton, read on. It is kind of a bummer because the first half of the book is good but I didn't finish it and I am going to return it. I generally read (listen) to about 50 books per year and return one or two.

Good, not great

I needed a quick self-help read and was drawn to this. The narrator is ok, at times a little more aggressive than necessary. The book has a good message but def leans liberal and has some conflicting messages.

It was strange how she went from drug lords to graduate students. I guess her point was that fear comes in all forms but I was not able to relate to either example. I did enjoy the lesson of fixed mind vs growth mind.

Overall helpful but not fantastic. It is worth it for it’s length and the fact that it was free with audible plus catalogue.

Nothing I hadn’t heard before

Fear. Easy to say it’s just fear ‘it’s not real’ but at the time someone is in that place it’s not easy to get out of. That being said if you’ve not read self help books then maybe you would get something out of this one.

Absolutely worth while listen

Firstly, I don’t give out 5 star reviews lightly. I’m super critical (especially of myself) so I feel qualified to rate this accurately. I’ve listened to/read almost all there is to read on self development having been on what feels like the longest recovery journey known to man.

Becoming chronically ill at 29 years old led me down a path of self discovery I never could have imagined and 16 years later I am still putting myself back together. It hit hard to realise how fear and trauma had played a significant part in my illness and does in most people with chronic illness, whether consciously or subconsciously. The nervous system is key and this book does resonate a lot with me and the underlying fear that has ruled me since birth. Being aware of something is the first step to healing it.

The book does go into other areas that didn’t especially apply to me personally (like fear of public speaking) but are still useful and can be applied to other situations. I don’t like public speaking being introverted and not a ‘people person’ but I can do it when I need to. It is paralysing for some however and it’s always good to be able to delve into the underlying reasons for things.

We all face challenges and hurdles in life, it’s just a case of whether we can learn to jump them, go around them or go back the other way that determines our life’s direction. I recommend listening to this and practicing jumping.

The cost of inaction is a life unlived.

Quick read, big impact. She dragged me to filth, I learned
self sabotage is the mother of imposter syndrome. Potential is a trap. An
imperfect decision is better than no decision and it’s okay to give yourself permission to course correcting as you go.

The audiobook is superior to the text version. Taking roughly an 1 hour to read on 1.7x speed. It felt like a wake up call from a future me begging me to become her. Give it 2-3 listens for things to click.

I recommend this to anyone willing to confront their excuses. If you’re tired of waking up to a life half lived knowing you are destined for more, not knowing where to start.

Do you need this book? No. But if having it on in the background can help you take action on things you regret not starting or sticking to, give it a go.
