Sintesi dell'editore
Women have been told that being pretty comes at the expense of being taken seriously. If a woman is physically attractive, there is often a presumption that she lacks the substance and smarts necessary to provide leadership in business and other endeavors. This narrative implies that being pretty and being capable are mutually exclusive. But in Pretty Powerful, Fox News political commentator and legal analyst Eboni Williams rejects that narrative. She says that to accept the false notion that beauty and power are mutually exclusive is to leave an incredibly powerful tool on the table. According to Williams, the knee-jerk reaction for most women is to feel shamed by the potential advantage their beauty grants them, but Williams says it's okay for women to take full advantage of the most immediate and obvious attribute at their disposal, encouraging women to embrace their beauty as positive and powerful.

Much more insightful than what the title suggests
What did you love best about Pretty Powerful?
I enjoyed her in depth analysis from some of the top stories and headlines over the past decade or more. The book felt relevant and current. The book does well to motivate and inspire deeper thought about a woman's choice to use appearance as a source of power in the ascent of Power. I did not agree with everything but I did think that the argument was well thought out.
What other book might you compare Pretty Powerful to and why?
I have never read a book written from this perspective.
What does Eboni K. Williams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Listening to her voice allowed me to understand specific emphasis on what she felt was important. The book is actually well written than many other narratives.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was moved when Ebony discussed her personal experiences with sexual harassment in college and in the workplace.
Any additional comments?
The book has broad appeal that I believe anyone could understand and enjoy. I wish she would have discussed the impact that the European standard of beauty plays in the corporate environment.

Very powerful
Eboni K. Williams got me to see women in a whole new light. To be more understanding of women in general and to not be judgmental or to fall into that stigma that attractive women are not capable, not smart or that they are just here to satisfy men. Thank you Eboni for this very powerful and insightful book.

Well said. . . . and even better illustrated
Eboni K. knocked this one out the box. I have learned in life that this particular subject is tough for young lady’s and even adult women to grasp and embrace. Miss Williams gave detailed examples of women who have and use their “Pretty Power” and also touched on how to gain and hone your own “Pretty Power” in your walk of life. I’m a guy and my interest stemmed from wanting to hear more about a professional woman’s perspective and this was definitely it.
I love it!!

Worthy of your time, inspirational
I would recommend this book for women in the workforce. Williams drives home the importance of aesthetic in work life. I respect her journey and the gems she has mined through experience and the stories of other women. I have my own opinions about how looks effect all of us. Very enjoyable.

Different perspective
I really enjoyed listening to this book! Eboni gives a totally different perspective on women in the work place and how our beauty can be an asset but also a stumbling block. We don't have to give up our feminine nature in order to be successful!
