Sintesi dell'editore

"Matter can move backward and forward in time. Objects may be in two places at once. Simply looking at an event can alter it instantaneously."

Quantum physics is an astounding (and mind-boggling) field of science, but can you actually use it to change your life? Absolutely yes, says Dr. Quantum. On A User's Guide to Your Universe, Dr. Quantum, who goes by day as mild-mannered physicist Dr. Fred Alan Wolf, teaches that anyone can understand quantum physics. What's more, it is the most useful, immediate, and relevant kind of science you can learn to profoundly affect your day-to-day life.

Your Mind is a Quantum Engine. Are You Ready to Fire It Up?
The art of "applied quantum physics" is learning how to harness the power of consciousness as we move through space and time. At the heart of quantum theory lies an astonishing (and scientifically proven) truth: that the very act of observing events in your life can alter their outcome. Our minds may not be just along for the ride in an impersonal universe, suggests Dr. Wolf. Instead, we can define the fabric of reality at a fundamental level with the choices we make, the things we choose to see or not see, and most importantly, our intentions in each moment.

Prepare to Unlock Your Own Quantum Superpowers.
How does the energy of your emotions change the physical state of your body? Can we actually perceive parallel universes? Is time travel possible for you at this very moment? Dr. Wolf takes you outside the walls of the laboratory, through the pages of history, and into the land of dreams, alchemy, and enchantment. With him, you will follow in the footsteps of such physics giants as Planck, Heisenberg, and Einstein, as you learn to reframe your perceptions of "ordinary" reality. Ultimately, you will learn to use the "Technology of God", harnessing the power of your mind to become an active co-creator of the universe.

Don't Waste Your Money On This Book!!!

I thought I was getting a up to date explaination in layman's terms of Quantum Mechanics and Relativity. Instead I get what sounds like a Tao/Buddist/Eastern Philosophy on Life in the Universe. This is not for someone interested in Physics. If you want to know someone's idea of where you fit in the Universe this is your book.

A wasted Credit for me....

It is not a Scientific Book, written by a Phd

I thought that this book is scientific. It started with a scientific introduction then moved to pseudoscientific talk promoting Yoga, Shamanism, Kabbalah etc. This lacked the scientific method and the author kept saying his "suggestions" and "thoughts" with no evidence and wanted the audience to believe him. Most of the time, the author was telling his stories with the Shamans and the like.
It was a waste of time and money.

Disappointing non-science

Disappointed that after about chapter 3, "Dr. Quantum" turned into "Dr. New Age", and went all mystical. His ideas about how we're all linked at the quantum level are neither new nor plausible.

No Science Here

I agree with Thomas. What we got here was an educated idiot, who rambles on and on for hours, saying the same thing over and again. The book definately never breaks the boundries between nonsense and second grade science.

What it is and is not

What this audio book is and is not. If you are looking for a straight up book on Physics this is not it. This is a book about Quantum Physics and or Quantum Theory. This looks at the world of energy and particles. Looking at the world from this point of view is surreal. The author then takes his knowledge Quantum Physics and shows how this is applicable in the spiritual world and his own spiritual journey. This book combines Quantum Theory and New Age philosophy. The author is quaky zany and a lot of fun to listen to. He is quite animated, perhaps a bit patronizing. However, I find him fun to listen to. If this type of thing is your cup of tea you will enjoy it. I did.

Take the red pill!

This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.
~ Morpheus, The Matrix ~

If your expectations are that you have science all figured out and you just want someone to tell you what you already think you know, then this recording with violate your expectations. But, if you do not think you have it all figured out and you want to experience one way in which quantum physics can take you down the rabbit hole of weirdness, this recording is for you

Luser's guide

Look Matilda, you're a good physicist, but you can't tell people that they are in a paradoxical state, yogi or otherwise without giving proofs of how you come up with such nonsense. In addition, cut it out with the German dialect, enshultegen sie, unser kuhlshrank ist leer! People like your voice, keep it that way through the entire book. I am posting this review and NOT posting it at the same time, so depending on whether you are reading this or not depends on what universe you chose to wake up on this morning.

Wierd and informative

The Dr. is a wierd one. I was interested in finding out what Quantum Physics was and some theory. Next thing I know he is talking about sex and shamans! If you've seen this guy and you can stomach listening to him talk about how Noi Noi made him horney, it will be worth it to hear how it all ties together. The first half is almost all Quantum Mechanics. And through it all he makes it interesting.

Fred with teach you and make you think.

Yep, Fred is an animated type presentor but he has good stuff. You have to weed out what you think is worth it, and to me, this fits into the self development range. If you wish to look at things in a new light but don't understand the other physics guys, give fred a try. Be open minded and light hearted on the approach, but do go ahead and listen. You may learn something worth far more then the 1 credit.

Absolutely terrible!!

Not only is the content complete nonsense but 'Dr Quantum' must rate as one of the most annoying people I have ever had to listen to. Avoid this podcast at all costs.

Odd, but just had to listen to it all

The first half dozen chapters or so seemed to relate to what I had imagined as Quantum Physics. This totally theoretical field of physics requires an open mind. It does seem to go a little "strange" later on when the author starts advocating shamanism ("witch doctors" and that sort of thing) but when you consider what he's talking about this is probably the only example he could use to demonstrate the "reality" of how quantum physics has been used, as it does all seem shrouded in mystery.
Nevertheless, I did feel inclined to keep listening just to see where he was going with it. A few bits made me laugh out loud, although I'm not sure they were supposed to!
Probably not one I'll recommend to my scientifically minded friends though- you need an open mind to entertain the thought of "there's possibly something beyond the physical world" to really appreciate this book, although I'm not talking about religion.

Cringe

I agree with other reviewers in their dislike of the narrator's voice. A lot of it sounds like he is making it up on the spot but losing his train of thought. He was enthusiastic about his subject but it soon begins to grate.
As for the subject matter, the description is accurate. But make sure you have read the description to the end, not just the first paragraph as I did! Getting to the conclusions Dr. Wolf makes involves much that is subjective analysis of personal situations. For example, drawing conclusions about any aspect of science while contemplating your jungle drug experience on the plane home does not seem a sound scientific foundation.
Mind you if you have read the description to the end and are still considering dowloading this audiobook, sound science is obviously not what you are looking for.
(If you do want good science get 'Briefer History of Time' or 'A Short History of Nearly Everything')
