Africa's way out of its current betrayal by its rulers is not by severing its relationship with the external perpetrators who have been responsible for its periods of tragedy and lamentation, but rather by using strategic thinking to consciously relate with the rest of the world in making sure that her interest is protected as a fundamental principle. Because man is intrinsically selfish, it does not matter whether he is black, brown, or white; if he is granted an unchecked opportunity, he will use it to his advantage at the expense of others. Otherwise, African rulers would not have been replicating the deeds of the enslavers and colonialists on the continent. Also, if humans were selfless, socialism would have succeeded in the former Soviet Union and China. But it is clear that man is naturally competitive and, given any advantage, he would use it against his competitor.

The Betrayal: This is a political betrayal, with grave socioeconomic consequences inflicted on the African peoples by African rulers, with Sierra Leone as a case study. The emphasis is on the continent's political leadership since the advent of African countries' so-called independence. Hence, the structure of the treatise stems from the global to the continental and onto the local (Sierra Leone). This has been made possible through the interconnectedness of historical and geopolitical phenomena.
